Do you think Maxwell has a chance at a successful test career?

Yeah a bit too much with the all rounders thing going there unless Maxwell and MMarsh both develop into guys who demand a top six batting spot with 45+ Test averages.

Guys like Pattinson and Cummins will also be demanding spots in the attack which leaves Forkers struggling for a gig if Marsh is already there (even though I'm a fan of the Forkers).

Marsh is about 60% as good as MJ while forkers is around 70% and together they are 130% as good as MJ

Do not see a flaw here

Maxwell and Marsh could easily both be 45+ averaging, they are not that far off and still young

The jury is still out on Faulkner's ability to be a third seamer, mostly because he's hardly had a chance to play any red ball cricket for like 2-3 years, but he wouldn't be far off at worst. He's still a **** load better than Cummins at the moment who is in the Test squad so make of that what you will.

If Pattinson can stay on the park he will be dynamite

Do you really think that if both were fit and had had match practice, that over time Faulkner would be a better test bowler than Cummins?

Impossible to answer that question in any meaningful way. And attempting to do so would be pointless and stupid.

I'd like to think Cummins has more raw potential, but that's such an abstract concept realistically speaking.

It's not abstract at all. You've seen Cummins and Faulkner bowl at full tilt haven't you?

Faulkner is a more experienced and more reliable bowler, in all forms. But I'm sure most people would agree that Cummins has more raw "potential" and striking ability. Maybe given an injury-free period and more experience Cummins could become a genuinely international class bowler, but it looks a long way off right now.

I like this Captain Planet approach to building a team. Don't pick a specialist spinner, but only pick batsmen who can also bowl spin, then when they merge together to become a lethal option on a turning pitch you only have to pick three bowlers.

On topic, anyone know what Maxwell is going to do now since he's been ditched by Yorkshire for disciplinary reasons or whatever? Is he still joining Australia A for the rest of the India tour?

Asked about Maxwell's omission, Yorkshire coach Jason Gillespie said: "It was just unprofessional behaviour and I don't wish to add anything further. It has been dealt with and we have moved on and the slate is clean. As soon as the decision was made we cracked on.''
Suggests he will keep playing for us this season. Needs to be not terrible before he goes again, though it will take something considerable to get another season
