1st Match - New Zealand v Sri Lanka

Is Vettori a lock? NcCullum offers a bit more in the field and with the bat, but I'm assuming Vettori is first choice.

It's nice having two good ODI spinners in the squad and it wouldn't surprise me if they play together on more than one occasion in this tournament.

2 days to go! I'm nervous as hack. All these lead up matches count for jack. In a strange way I would not be too upset if we lost to SL. We are riding a real high after beating SL and PAK in a series and also SA in the warm up match. If we lost our first game it would sharpen the team and make them more battle aware. What is important is we make the quarters. Don't care how we get there as long as we do. Then it boils down to winning three games in a row. All other results to that point count for nothing.

I wouldn't be concerned what 3 played, although I think they will go with Southee, Mills and McClenaghan.

Never been a fan of the Tui catch gimmick in all its orangeness, so I'm a bit disappointed to hear it's continuing through the tournament.

Yeah, possibly. Not sure - either the ad I saw on TV didn't make that clear, or I was too busy groaning and muttering to take it in.

It's only a matter of time someone gets seriously hurt trying to take a catch.

Yeah, exactly right. Hardly a coincidence that it was on the grass banks at Hamilton where catches were taken last summer.

Hell yes, Vettori >>> NcCullum comfortably.

Interesting to note, that according to the bookmakers, Vettori is tipped to be the most miserly bowler of the WC

Clearly I am the only person that finds the Tui catch competition amusing. As far as gimmicks go... it's a good one.

Been saving myself up for a CWC binge though very regrettably am playing cricket on a couple of days that NZ games are on . Why do I bother? I don't know.

Apart from that I am as they say, Pumped.

how will be the WC attendances in NZ. I know most of NZ games will be close to packed houses but what about other games especially among the big 8 for eg Pak-SA game at Auckland will it have good attendances or will it be usual NZ crowd of 3 men and a dog.

I've been wondering this myself. I think there'll be decent, but far from sell-out crowds for the games between the major countries. I've been keeping an eye on the ticket sales for the SRL v ENG game and I think there've been about 8-10,000 tickets sold so far, so it's not unreasonable to expect a final crowd of around 15,000 which will probably be fairly typical.
