At the start of the third day at Trent Bridge, England were 33 runs behind and with one second-innings wicket down, though 1-0 up in the series. It was actually close.

Since then, England have scored 1687 for 19, (average 88.79) while India have scored 622 for 30 (average 20.73).

- England haven't beaten India at The Oval since 1959. That win was the final victory in an English whitewash.

Omens ftw.

Ignoring the world class but totally unfit Zaheer, India have taken 42 wickets at a smidgen under 70 per scalp.

Specialist Indian openers in series: 139 @ 13.90
Dravid as makeshift opener in series: 260 @ 86.67

-The 55 runs in the first innings at The Oval they added together took Rahul Dravid & Sachin Tendulkar past Greenidge & Hayes aggregate of 6482, making them the most prolific test batting partnership of all time.

-The 266 balls he faced in the first innings at The Oval made Dravid the first man to face 30,000 deliveries in tests.

-Dravid was the only Indian batsman who scored more runs in the series than Alastair Cook managed in one innings at Edgbaston.

-Stuart Broad's return of 25 wickets @ 13.84 is the tenth best managed by a bowler in a 4-test series.

Final stats - India scored 2044 runs @ 25.55 (3.22 per over) and conceded 2809 @ 59.77 (3.83 per over)

I seem to remember a lot of posters taking umbrage at the attack apart from Zaheer as being Bangladesh standard - yet it should've been the Bangladeshi fans who grumbled.

Bangladesh in 2010 scored 1003 runs @ 25.08 (3.44 per over) and conceded 1087 @ 49.41 (3.86 per over)

Must have misread that one then. 7 out of 8 then :p

BTW how common is it for a side to take 100% of their opponent's wickets during a series? Even when we got whitewashed in Oz that didn't happen.

In series of 4 or more Tests, it's been done only 17 times (out of 419). England, Australia, South Africa and the West Indies are the only sides to do it. Only 6 cases were in four-Test series.

England have done it 5 times. This is the only time they've done so in a four-Test series or against India. They've managed it in 3 five-Test series (all Ashes) and one six-Test series (1978/9 Ashes). That's the only case of a side taking 120 wickets in a series.

India have lost all their wickets in a series twice, first when they were whitewashed 5-0 by the Windies in 1961/62, and again when they toured Australia in 1967/68, where they were also whitewashed 4-0.
