Sigh. Didn't even need to play at that one Ricky, especially given that you've already squirted one through the slips and just seen your partner dropped going for a needless shot. Play out the new ball FFS.

well is it the pitch? The bowling? Or the batting?

I would say it's a good pitch to bowl on, but the batting has been very poor. So loose! Anderson's almost had 3 wickets from 3 quite rank balls.

Ponting is simply not prepared to work his way to form. He just does not understand the merits of being patient and working his way out. Instead he is still in 2006 and thinks he can counterattack regardless of match situation. His strike rate for the series is 82, but his average 20.

Ego. I don't think Ponting's capable of giving his career a second wind a la Tendulkar by becoming a more careful accumulator of runs.

Yeah, which is why it seems that early on in every one of his innings these days, people start saying 'geez Ponting's looking ominous today,' right before he gets out. He may not look out of form but the scorecards say otherwise.
