BCCI asks Cricket Australia for more tests

If Sir Alex and Social argue, I don't see how that's an "India vs. Australia" thread again. Posters have issues with other posters when its India vs. Australia or Lillee vs. Marshall. So let's not paint everyone with one brush.

That's what I was thinking actually. Quite curious.
Glad to see a sane take on the issue.

Tour itinerary for India v Australia

  • October 2-6 First Test - Mohali
  • October 10-14 Second Test - Bangalore
  • October 19 First ODI - Kochi
  • October 22 Second ODI - Goa
  • October 24 Third ODI - Vishakapatnam

Also

The BCCI also announced the schedule for New Zealand's tour of India in November. The teams will play three Tests and five ODIs.

The first Test starts on November 4 and will be played in Ahmedabad. The second and third Tests will be played in Kanpur (November 12) and Mumbai (November 20).

BCCI WAO!!!

So a total of

2 vs SA
2 vs Aus
3 vs SL

scheduled outside the FTP. Also NZ series if you add that makes it another 3. A pity we aren't playing West Indies that much.

Hopefully the BCCI neuters Mohali for OZ's visit and gives them a fighting chance, much like WACA did at Perth.

It's squeezing an extra 2 tests when there's not a scheduled series. The point is six tests every 4 years is better than four.

Means from 2007 India will have played more test matches against Australia and South Africa in India then in Australia/South Africa.

Totally pissed that a test match has been awarded to Mohali. We are going to see a lot of empty seats yet again.

Yes, and both teams will sport roughly the same teams. India in all probability will have just the one change instead of Ganguly. Australia will have North instead of Hayden and Watson taking opening spot, and perhaps Hauritz/Smith instead of Cameron White.

What? Fairly sure Australia will be sporting quite a different team from last time

At least make it a three test series. Two tests are so useless. While its better than more ODIs or 20/20 its just setting a back precedent.

Obviously two tests is better than zero tests, and while its a step in the right direction, it's just not enough. I don't want an established precedent of two test series

I also prefer min 3 test series. But they say don't look in the mouth of gift cow. Two test series definitely better than an one day series.

Atleast 3 tests must be made norm in case of ftp series. Sadly you have even established test teams like Australia agreeing to convert three tests into two.

That happened with NZ because the series had to be cut short actually.
