Hehe, no probs.![]()
Don't advertise it.
what a complete tug hole Harby is
Infinitely more so, in fact. Or else the incident when Gilchrist slapped an opposing player has been grossly under-reported.Just as much as Gilly is, I reckon..
Highly doubt it. What sort of clause would that be? A negative publicity clause? This incident will do nothing other than raise Gilchrist's profile in India, generating more money for the franchise and BCCI. No such thing as bad publicity. The idea that the BCCI would step in because they're worried about offending Sachin's honour is really outside reality. If they did, the consequences would be huge. They'd all but guarantee that far fewer international players would sign for them at all and far fewer re-signings of players after their 3 years are up.Maybe so, but what are the terms of that contract ? It could well be that the BCCI could pull out...
Easy. Prohibited from public comment by CA.If Gilchrist is being so principled about the whole racism thing, let me say this:
- Why not come out there and then after Sydneygate and denounce whoever he wanted to ? His career was close to ending anyway.....
He's signed to a privately-run franchise. The BCCI's actions in relation to Test cricket bear no comparison. If he was so aghast at the actions of the BCCI, why then did he proceed to play in the BCCI's private competition - the IPL.
The 'taken out of context' thing was clearly in relation to Gilchrist's comments about Sachin being difficult to find for a handshake after matches, not the hearing. I feel fairly confident that Gilchrist and Sachin would have already had words about the hearing.- If you think Tendulkar lied and you feel so strongly bout it, why then ring him up to say "It was taken out of context".
I'd say he was more affronted by the aftermath where Symonds was essentially told he was lying.I mean seriously does Gilchrist really give a toss that Symonds may have been racially abused ?
Gilchrist Clarifies
Adam Gilchrist has insisted that he did not accuse Sachin Tendulkar of lying while presenting evidence in the racism hearing after the controversial Sydney Test. He also denied calling him a “bad sport” after observing that it was often hard to locate Tendulkar for an after-match handshake following Indian losses.
Gilchrist's comments, quoted from his soon-to-be released autobiography True Colours, caused a stir in India and both players confirmed they had spoken to each other and agreed that the remarks were taken out of context.
Gilchrist wrote in his column for the Times of India. “Nowhere do I accuse Sachin of lying. So to have spoken directly with Sachin about these matters was a great relief for me."
So that very much is that.... and having more or less mad up our minds whether to join the overnight queues to buy the book as soon as the bookshop opens or to refuse to be seen in the same room as "True Colours" , shall we move on please ?
perhaps, but I would be just as angry when some retired player from opposition attributes that I uttered a racial insult when I think I haven't and was also cleared in a bloody judicial hearing with a judge from a 3rd party nation.........Infinitely more so, in fact. Or else the incident when Gilchrist slapped an opposing player has been grossly under-reported.
Oh I have read that article thats why I said about all of us having made our minds "one way or the other"All good, SJS, but read this article:
http://content-ind.cricinfo.com/australia/content/current/story/375276.html
It is a pile of garbage that Gilly has uttered here in some quotes of that article.
Hell, he is making it sound as though shaking hands AFTER a loss is an Australian cultural thing, one that is not practiced by Indians.......
FFS, Gilly, try to think of what you are saying before you actually say it, moron....
gotcha...Oh I have read that article thats why I said about all of us having made our minds "one way or the other"
But giving more importance to this matter only serves to give publicity to the book. People should learn to ignore it.
And this from someone giving advice to think before you speakperhaps, but I would be just as angry when some retired player from opposition attributes that I uttered a racial insult when I think I haven't and was also cleared in a bloody judicial hearing with a judge from a 3rd party nation.........
I am talking about this incident alone, and I think Gilly has been as much of a tug hole in the context of this one as Harbhajan has been........................
Probably a fair bit of truth in that. We do live in the age of PR & spin, after all. Actually, I don't know if it's the same in Oz, but up here sportsmen's autobiographies often make almost as much (more in some cases) from the serialisation rights sold to a paper (usually one of esteemed red tops) than they do from actual book sales. It would make sound financial sense for a publisher's PR or marekting team to draw bidders' attentions to the juicy bits.I wonder if journalists get the book and scour it for the juicy bits or they're given them straight from the publishers and the PR people? Wouldn't surprise me one bit if it was the latter and it's a great ploy. Look at everyone here talking about it, it's clearly worked.
Where is the evidence that Sachin changed his story, sir???????And this from someone giving advice to think before you speak
They do over here, sure. Maybe they do in India as well, but I've heard more stuff to suggest otherwise there than here. With regards to the IPL, two words: Andrew Symonds. Everyone loves a villain.
Harbhajan Singh and Symonds are both idiots of the highest order IMO. We see more confirmation of this every day.Oh yes and Gilchrist is Saint Bernard and Symonds Saint Christopherwhat a complete tug hole Harby is![]()
A voice of sanityHarbhajan Singh and Symonds are both idiots of the highest order IMO. We see more confirmation of this every day.
Gilchrist has generally come accross as a good chap, but he's certainly not done himself the greatest of credit here.
His bid had more to do with his playing capabilities than anything else. The Deccan Chargers set out to build a top order of hard hitters, and Symonds was the best going around at the time. Nothing more to it.With regards to the IPL, two words: Andrew Symonds. Everyone loves a villain.
And despite all his rivalries with India he netted the highest foreign paypacket, not just because he's a great limited overs player but because of his profile, which was taken into account in the first round of bidding. There's no way Gilchrist's IPL contract will be affected in any way if it had no impact on Symonds. His bid had more to do with his playing capabilities than anything else.
