Newbies vs Geezers
at CWBCC Stadium

Scorecard
Ball By Ball

The Geezers went down for the second time running after being batted out of the game by the newcomers. A fantastic opening stand between Black talents Ritchie and Burge responded to the Geezers' 447 - achieved despite König and Cole whittling through the middle. Weber and Nayak threw the bat for the last wicket, adding 91 swiftly, before Burge broke through having Nayak lbw.

In response, the Newbies put on 253 for the first wicket, and Cole and Fitzsimmons smashed 162 for the fourth. The Geezers had no one to turn to, with their main bowling threats on paper, Gelman and Smith, going wicketless. Then, only Jamee Gray kept his head with 90, as the Geezers capitulated to set a feeble target and give the n00bs an easy target for a ten-wicket win.

Geezers 447 all out
Cribb 109, Weber 86*, Cameron 74; Cole 2/43

Newbies 608 all out
Burge 137, J Ritchie 109, Cole 97, Fitzsimmons 72; Weber 4/84, Nayak 4/153

Geezers 197 all out
Gray 90; West 3/45, Maina 2/26, König 2/43

Newbies 40 for nought (4.2)

Newbies won by ten wickets

Captains vs Internationals
at Fardin Qayyumi CC

Scorecard
Ball By Ball

A flat pitch got flatter, as a splendid contribution from Nick Scott was not enough to prevent the Captains chasing a massive total. The captains' batting seems to be fantastically dependable.

Mat Mitchell was dominant with the ball early on, almost despite conditions, taking four wickets with dominant inswing as the Internationals slipped to 80 for five. Despite Scott's unbeaten 36, Thomas took a wicket with his third ball to cut the Internationals short at 175. In response, the Captains added a hundred for the first wicket, then self-destructed to Stedman and Rose just before the close of play. Sixteen wickets had fallen on the first day, and the match looked to be over in a maximum of three days.

Not so. Though the Internationals were whittled down to 121 for five at tea on day two, Kerr, Scott and de Silva fought back, determined to set a hefty total. A 189-run eighth-wicket stand between Scott and Stedman took the better part of a day to complete, though the last wickets fell feebly - Clapham was last out, the third run out of the innings. Set 356 to win, however, the Captains were undeterred; a virtually chanceless chase - though Smith converted to 82 after being reprieved from a stone cold lbw on 15 - gave the Captains a nine-wicket win.

Internationals 175 all out
Scott 36*, Kearsley 36; Mitchell 4/56, Demeza 3/52

Captains 246 all out
Mørk 58; Rose 4/60, Stedman 3/45

Internationals 426 all out
Scott 116, Stedman 81, Kerr 55; Kennett 2/51

Captains 356 for one
Mørk 139*, Garven 97*, D Smith 82

Internationals vs Virgins
at Casston Reserve

Scorecard
Ball By Ball

An early self-destruction to Nick Scott and another hapless bowling effort ensured that the Virgins were never in this game. Ben Read and Rob Bowen added 250 for the second wicket in the second innings, but the train had already left by that time.

Scott and Rose took the first wickets, which took on a one-day flavour as the Virgins were whittled out in 43.5 overs. Rob Bowen smashed a captain's innings of 76 not out, but was left stranded as Rose and Stedman dismissed the lower order.

In response, the Internationals slipped to 227 for six after all bowlers took wickets; however, Kerr and Richards amassed a gigantic stand with both building hundreds, and Nick Scott coupled his good bowling effort with a blazing 76. The Internationals compiled 638, and the Virgins' bowling average in this tournament stands at slightly above 70.

Read and Bowen then fought back after Stedman ahd taken out the top order, but Gough broke through as emergency bowler, and though there was some resistance from the lower order, the total was too low to scare the Internationals.

Virgins 230 all out
Bowen 76; Stedman 3/31, Rose 3/45, Scott 3/77

Internationals 638 all out
Kerr 202, Richards 116, Scott 76, Chaulk 69; Bochat 4/126

Virgins 536 all out
Read 193, Bowen 138, Z Ritchie 55; Richards 4/79, Stedman 4/113

Internationals 129 for one
Cunningham 60*

Internationals won by nine wickets

Code:
Captains 2 2 0 0 12
Internationals 3 2 1 0 12
Newbies 1 1 0 0 6
Geezers 2 0 2 0 0
Virgins 2 0 2 0 0
Second match will be simmed with a random team in 18 hours if no one from the Newbies submits a squad.

Some interesting cricket being played. Runs and wickets a plenty and guys showing it doesnt matter where you bat as long as there is a partnership.

Good stuff :)

Spanks the other eleven after you lose.

(also, in case of regular season games: comes in as injury replacements. No injuries during charity though.)

(oh, and as cricketer he's a medium-fast allrounder)
