When the aussie A tour go away hughes has sealed a spot averages 54,rogers averages 39 and jewell 41,divineuto retired.
I forgot he(siddle) was at the academy altho injured most the time,an A tour would be a step up for him, some county experience would be good too.
Hughes' age works for him well too, as well as the 'wunderkid' status he seems to have assumed in most circles. Michael Clarke II indeed. He is interesting to watch when batting though. He seems to get very low to the ground, and his bat looks a bit too long for him!

Yeah I would pick Hughes too.

Especially because Aussie A tours don't necessarily mean the next best 11 players if there was a test tomorrow sort of thing.

True. They are generally blokes with a sniff of selection/development squads these days. Disappointed that we won't see Hughes bat a bit more this season, though I hope he carves up in the U 19 WC...He could potentially worm his way on to an international tour, you never know.

Any idea on when our next Aussie A tour is.

Any up for naming a 14 or 15 man development squad?

Not sure when the next Aussie A tour is. We just had one in Pakistan at the start of this season, so we won't be having another one any time soon. I would pick:

Phil Hughes
Steve Smith
Moises Henriques
Luke Pomersbach
Dan Cullen
Cullen Bailey
Doug Bollinger
Ashley Noffke
Peter Siddle
George Bailey
David Hussey
Chris Rogers
Shaun Tait
Matthew Wade
Luke Ronchi

I've probably missed a few players...Now that Haddin is the #1 keeper we have to develop Ronchi as his second in charge...and then Wade as the future.

Siddle doesn't need county experience at this stage. What he does need is to get his body right for a whole season, and County cricket won't let him do that. I reckon he might be the type who'll get a part time scholarship at the Academy.

He also needs a haircut and a trip to the dentist.

Andrew Mcdonald and Nick Jewell would be incredibly stiff.

Can't believe I missed Ronnie. Wish there were more spots TBH! But I don't see Jewell ever playing for Australia in any form of the game, so that's why I haven't included him there. My Aussie A/Development squads would consist of people who I rate a decent chance to become full-time Aussie players in the future.

Some of the players I feel that you have missed who may deserve a crack.
Shaun Marsh, Luke Butterworth, Steve Magoffin, Andrew McDonald, Travis Birt

I also wouldn't mind: Greg Moller, Callum Ferguson, Beau Casson, Peter Forrest, Brett Geeves, Bryce McGain.

Brett Dorey's not finished as a 4/5day bowler, has been injured for about 2 years now, just starting to come right. In the top 3 swing bowlers when fit.

So much gun talent in this country that there are indeed many very good cricketers who would miss out.

I don't ever see him playing for Australia ever again. Ever. He was one of those "let's just give him a go and see how he goes...if he doesn't...so be it" players in the VB series a couple of years back. He didn't grab his opportunity and I just don't see him troubling any good batsmen.

He never should've played ODI cricket, was never an outstanding OD bowler. Problem is, no room for experimenting in the Test side.

Aiden Blizzard is another one. Certain ODI player for us in the future. Mark Cosgrove too.
