Best ODI Batsmen Not To Score A Ton

Would have thought that Michael Vaughan would have been a clear standout as the best ODI bat over a reasonable period of time not to have scored an ODI ton.

He probably has the greatest difference between no. of test centuries and ODI centuries (17 IIRC.)

He is a terrible ODI batsman though, Thorpe is a much better choice.

Chetan Sharma must be a candidate for one of the worst batsmen to have actually scored an ODI hundred. In 65 gmes he got past 25 only on one other occasion when he scored 38 not out.

His bating average in the 20's is highly misleading since it is more on accoun of his nearly 50% not out innings rather than a great batting prowess.

In ODI's he batted mostly between 8-11. The one occasion he went in at number 4 he scored his famous 96 ball 101 no against Gooch's England.

He also has a solitary test fifty.

In Test matches he once batted at number 8 and every other time amongst nine, ten and Jack.

Perm,

I have to wonder, how much cricket have you actually seen if you consider younis khan to be among the worst batsmen to have scored a hundred....

I watch a fair bit of cricket thank you very much and I, along with many others, consider Younis Khan a very poor ODI batsman. Take away the minnows that aren't ODI class and he averages 26.96 with just a solitary century against a pitiful bowling attack. I think my comments are well justified.

On the whole McCullum thing if you're going to mention Parore (yes I know he scored a hundred) then McCullum deserves a mention. McCullum far greater batsman than Parore IMO.
I dunno 'bout that! On talent, yes; but on results.... the jury's still out I'd think.

McCullum still hasn't scored a Test century against Test-level countries (i.e., not Bangladesh or Zimbabwe, because they're rubbish).

The worst player.... Sean Ervine? I seem to remember him scoring a ton against Aussie with Laxman.

Absolutely. Like his friend Mohammad Yousuf in Tests, Younis has benefited more than almost anyone from the giving of ODI status to substandard sides. They make a terrible record look merely OK.

Certainly up there with the worst specialist batsman to score a ODI century, if not the Sharmas etc. of The World.

The worst player to score a test 100 would be Agarkar right?
nah Gillespie...
Agarkar has a fair bit of talent both batting and bowling wise but he just didn't have the brains for it.

Gillespie's 200 on the other hand .... front foot prod.. ugly.

For perhaps the 4th time... only Tests against Test-standard teams are under consideration.
