Maybe the difficulty finding an experienced female referee might have something to do with football's decades of entrenched misogyny. And maybe a high-profile and visible but ultimately meaningless match is an ideal one in which to provide a female referee with experience.

Salford having their second live game of the season on Sky already. Nothing to do with Gary Neville being part owner.

I just can’t get behind Salford City. Got a real beef with the whole ‘little club getting success because of their brilliant footballing owners’, when it’s the billionaire owner and overinflated contracts used to buy their way up. I just can’t get any passion for what is basically cheat code football, and the absolute ****ing and glamourising their story makes me want them to lose. Even to Leeds

There’s something a bit comical about Celtic in Europe.

I've got a niggling feeling about this match. Probably irrational given Chelsea's result at the weekend, but still niggly.
And come what may we're unstoppable

Sol Campbell seems to have decided to leave Macclesfield. It'll be interesting to find out the circumstances after his relentless whining about black players not being given a chance after sending in 5000 CV's before getting an interview.

Indeed. A great shame it has ended acrimoniously. A shame it has ended at all actually.

Paul Ince did similar things at Macclesfield but soon disappeared after a bit of initial success at MK Dons.

La Liga on ITV free-to-air this season, starting with Barca vs. Bilbao tonight. That's awesome.

It looks like Liverpool might have lost another keeper at least short term. Feel a bit sorry for the bloke who must have thought Christmas had come early getting a run in the first team.
