two assholes battle it out with the older one emerging victorious as usual, another meltdown from the older asshole...

Not sure what it says about the strength of either tour that Serena and Novak are still so relatively dominant at their stage in their career.

Hoping for a Novak v Med final for a change and Osaka v Brady. :D

Will be cheering Brady in the final obviously, but despite pushing Osaka so close in the US, this sadly should be comfortable for Osaka.

Osaka seems on a different level these days to everyone, her comeback v Mugu was awesome and then handled business so casually v Hsieh and Serena. Brady is fun, but concerned about how tight she got at the end of that match. She has been very streaky this week, not sure throwing in a sinker of a set is a canny idea v Osaka.

Interesting to see how Osaka fares on grass and clay over next few years, horrific form on both, but surely to good not to master at least one of those surfaces soon.

yeah osaka definitely the favorite...also medvedev and tsitsipas will likely beat each other up in a gruelling five setter and then submit meekly in the final...

The first eight games of the women's final were superb to watch, but it just feels like Brady has crumbled a bit since then.

Brady showing some fight to get a break there, but it feels like too little, too late at 4-1 in the second set.

You've kinda contradicted yourself by first saying how Osaka is on a different level but then mention she nearly lost to Muguruza, match points saved.

The thing about Clay and grass is to learn the movement, people seem to lazily think, big servers will be good on grass, retriever good on clay, but if you don't move well on the surface it matters little. Woz and Radwanska probably the two best movers on other courts couldn't play on clay. Someone like Pliskova likes to hit hard from the back of the court, so prefers slower courts in general despite having a massive serve.

The way she won against Muguruza does show she is on a bit of a different level though tbh. It was like she'd unlocked some sort of god mode at match point down. Honestly Osaka has that early-10s Serena vibe, at least on hard courts.
