Rohan Riders or Walthamstow Wolves. Just a couple of names I've used in the past. Be as creative as you like and post a press release or something if you like. Cricketweb Virtual NRL 2009 Announce First Franchise

The Cricetweb Virtual NRL are pleased to announce the formation of the first franchise in Cricketweb Virtual NRL history. The first team to be accepted into the new competition is the Logan City Lions and they will be managed by Logan City local Kyle Wright. The Logan City Lions will play out of their home ground Homestead Park which currently seats 20000.

Second Franchise Announced

The second team to be confirmed by the CWVNRL is the Waitakere City Rangers. The owner J Ritchie has confirmed the home ground to be the Trust Stadium, in Henderson and also the first head coach, former Newcastle halfback, Andrew Johns has been signed for a one year deal.

Underclass Heroes enter as the 3rd team.

Today owner Ryan Dunn has announced that his team will be the Underclass Heroes and they will play at Hero Field. Wether or not the team will be heroes to the local townspeople will be decided on how well the team can perform during the season.

Ok. Here's a breakdown of the basic rules. If there are any questions...feel free.

Basic game play is that you are not attempting to pick a winner for the round, but the team that will score more points than the team your opponent picks.

1. Home team has first choice of side. Home team is the team listed first. Basically if the away team posts the team they choose for the round first and the home team wants that team the away team will have to re-pick.

2. To add some strategy to the game, once you've picked a team you cannot pick them again until you have picked all 16 NRL sides. The only exceptions are when there a short rounds where several teams have byes and all teams playing are teams you have chosen. In this case you can choose a team you have already selected, however after you have chosen all 16 teams, in the second lot of picks, you will be unable to select those teams. The only other exception is when your last team to pick is requested by the home team. - as above you can choose a team you've already selected, but cannot select them in the 2nd round of picks.

3. If both players have exhausted the same 15 teams and on round 16 both players have to pick the same team the game will be decided as a draw.

4. All picks need to be posted by midday Thursday (Brisbane time) in order for the away team to have sufficient time to re-pick before games commence on Friday night. This also gives players adequate time to pick after teams are announced on Tuesday afternoon. If the away team is required to re-pick they have until 6pm Friday (Brisbane time) to re-pick.

5. Managers will be sacked if they miss three rounds in a row. A list of managers who wish to join after the season commences will be created and new managers will be allocated on first-in-first-served basis. If a manager misses three rounds during the season (at any time, i.e. not in a row) they will be required to pick in the next round or they will be sacked.

6. Draws for each round will be posted on the Sunday (or Monday) before the round commences.

Managers who have not given their team a name please do so before round 1. If this is not done it will be counted as a strike. Even if you just state you want your team to be called your Cricketweb username.
