Jimmy Neesham is missing from the squad, that's a surprise. Perhaps they will bring him back for the last 2 ODIs. I'm told he's fine and bowling in the nets for firebirds. Not a bad thing though, coming straight back after the injury and playing against India would have been a challenge. CDG gets a go against a tougher opponent while Neesham polished his skills vs SL and with couple of games after the injury he will again be firing all cylinders. When he's back for the last to games he'll be rearing to go. Only problem is that he will have no more than 2 games to prove his worth again. Surely he should already be a shoo in for the world cup.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
I hope we see some rotation. Sure it's a big series that we want to win, but it would be daft not to play Neesham. I get the fitness thing, but 3 whole matches seems a bit much....though I guess enough time to get a closer look at CdG's form in ODIs.

It was mentioned on instagram that Neesham and Astle are still working to get to full fitness and will be considered for the squad for the last two games of the series

I'd be tempted to trial CDG as an opening bowler in at least one game. Give him 3 or 4 overs with the new ball. He can swing it almost as much as Southee and Henry and it gets rid of some of his overs early. He can't be much worse than they were against SL.

I'd also get Nicholls to keep in a match as well unless they are set on taking a 2nd specialist keeper to the CWC. If he has to keep to cover an injury to Latham this needs to be trialled.

ODIs vs Bangladesh as well

Pretty standard squad for mine. Interesting that there is no back-up keeper.

CdG averages 44 with the bat at home, so he'll probably have one innings that cements his place in the WC squad.

Not Terrible
No need for a back up keeper when playing at home, if there is an injury they can have the replacement there that day.

I hope they do play southee so we can see well and truly how effective his bowling is against likely semi-finalists.
Ditto Henry and Bracewell as death bowlers - selectors need to hear loud and clear THIS SHOULD NOT BE THE DEATH BOWLING PLAN before we go into that tournament.

Conditions in NZ are the closest we'll get to English conditions for ODIs aren't they? Small grounds and flat pitches with a bit in it for the seamers. Pretty good prep from the WC

Hope they give Gill a run. Wanna see how he goes
