NZC seemingly preparing you for their 2018/19 plans here, curbing any enthusiasm that may remain in the country for four-dayers. No live video scorecards, because it's Labour Day.

Is that actually why they're not doing them? So annoying ... of all the days to miss!!!

Not quite the same level of carnage, but Canterbury's top order looks weak, Otago's bowling attack good (especially if we get Good Duffy this season) and no surprise they're 67/5.

That was a good length with the new ball to make Papps look bad, but little else. Too short to get the edge, he now has more runs today than Auckland's whole side.

You'll get a very numb-looking front arm with Fraser Sheat. Far from rapid but he did trouble Ravindra with shape back down the lbw line in school cricket.

Give up Auckland, don't think they're going to recover from this first day flogging for the rest of the season.

12/7, 62a.o and now Wellington are 246/0.

Unbelievable turn out of events today for firebirds. Boy what a start for Newton. Watched the game at the ground all day and have to say the best day in a long time if you're firebirds supporter. 4 fast bowlers ripping into aces baked up with a rampaging Papps and forever reliable Woodcock. Hoping this isn't one off and no reason why Firebirds can't be the best team in the park in all formats considering we haven't lost or most likely going to lose a single player to blank caps. This game is done and dusted I'd think.

Jayzus when i saw the score I had assumed the Auckland U17's turned up by mistake, but that actually looks like a decent Auckland side.
