Well played Australia, given us a right thrashing.

Hope Faulkner isn't too badly hurt, be a sickener to miss a home world cup through injury so close to it starting.

So if Maxwell is inevitably going to get picked, where does he bat? Seems hard to fit him in the side along with Marsh if Watson and Faulkner are going to be in the team as well. Faulkner at 8 feels like a waste and Maxwell and Marsh at 5 and 6 feels fragile.

I guess if Faulkner is injured the problem kinda solves itself and Maxwell, Haddin and Marsh will end up batting 6-8.

The obvious was to drop Mitch marsh (who in my opinion shouldn't've be in the squad). I don't think Faulkner's injury changes anything. Mitch Marsh at 8 would be ridiculous imo

Haddin should absolutely bat 8 if it's between those three. Marsh is the best bat of the lot IMO.

Why would having marsh in the middle order feel fragile? His ODI batting has been pretty good.
Yeah, I still think there's plenty of better batsmen you could pick in Australia to bat in the middle order than Maxwell and Marsh though. I mean that's basically picking 4 specialist batsmen.

I rate Marsh very highly and I'm happy for him to get picked but I do think a team with four of Finch, Warner, Watson, Smith Clarke and Bailey at the top and then Maxwell, Marsh, Haddin, Faulkner is one batsman short.

I think Maxwell and Marsh are competing for one spot basically. Harsh on either of them after today though.
