Bit of an odd time of the year to hold it, but oh well. As Kippax has already noticed, on paper it's shaping up to be a horrifying mismatch but T20 does allow completely random results so that should hopefully keep things interesting.

Good to see Milne back at last. I saw he did a bit of bowling for Manawatu on the weekend, so hopefully that elbow of his will be as good as new by the time of the UAE ODI's in December.

It's not that far off IMO. I honestly don't really rate the North Island's bowling all that high and they feel a bat short. South Island have a big hole in their bowling but they have a lot of quality back up options.

Will be a good game I reckon.

Seems like this would be a decent way to "start" the season with the game on Oct 31st and then to have 2 follow up games on Boxing day and New Years day.

I'd definitely tune in to watch a North vs South series on the holidays, and if it was nearby I'd go. I reckon you'd get a decent crowd too.

This could be a long season for Auckland if they are only going to play 2 specialist quicks and 1 spinner and rellying on 30-40 overs a day from part timers - Grobelaar, Nicol, CdG and Munro

Bates goes thru Popli - @ndcaknights four down before lunch

Some early bounce for Tarun Nethula as we see some spin

3rd @ndcaknights wicket to fall - @dazmitchell47 lbw to de Grandhomme. Inside edge? Ump says no. 66-3

Just over an hr into the new season b4 I heard one of my fave quotes - "tennis-ball bounce"

Answer - no. Carter chips one in the air to the last ball of the over and is taken at mid-wicket

Costly? Joe Carter, yet to get off the mark, pushes one back to Matt Quinn who spills it

First wicket of the day as Flynn edges Grobbelaar to slip, @ndcaknights 39-1

That is a depressing array of dobblers behind the 2 opening bowlers & Nethula.

BTW. I started to come round to M Quinn during last season, after initially being unimpressed. Looks to get as much bounce as anyone on the circuit.

I see Ferguson is fit and playing for Parnell.

Sky to request his participation at GPSS opening weekend.

Now he's only got 94 of the 120. Slipping. For shame, Jesse -- there goes your BLACKCAPS recall.
