Change bowlers done extremely well here for Glamorgan, Jones and Salter have really put the squeeze on Notts and been rewarded with three wickets between them. Notts started cautiously, understandably so against dangerman Hogan and the reliable Allenby, before Lumb began to up the ante and accelerate his innings. After the first powerplay Notts had found themselves in a very decent position of around 47-0 off the eight overs, but they soon lost both openers and since then Glamorgan's disciplines all round have been excellent. Good bowling backed up by some sharp fieding. Notts not having it all their own way at this point, but they do still have Taylor not out and he's just been joined by the classy and experienced David Hussey.

Just about to suggest maybe one over too many for Jones and he produces a beauty to remove Taylor, a big wicket for Glamorgan. Notts may have gone into the game with one less specialist batsman due to the selection of Swann in place of Riki Wessels, but they do still have decent enough depth you would think for a 40-over game. Read now in at six to be followed by Mullaney, Broad and Swann. Just need a partnership though Notts now to consolidate things, this could be the one with Read and Hussey at the crease.

I notice Broad is playing in his first match of the tournament in the final, who is the player he replaced and was he available for the game? I never like it when an International player comes back just for the Final. That last Salter oval was exactly whats Notts needed as they looked off the pace before then.

Well Notts have been playing with the youngster Jake Ball in the 40-over side and he took a 4-for and I think got man of the match in the semi-final but missed this game with a back injury so I guess that made it easier to get one of Broad and Swann back in the side. Think Ball was joint leading wicket-taker for Notts in the competition with 17 wickets aswell. The unlucky man I guess is Wessels who has played the majority of the games in the competition without really making too strong a case for him to remain in the side but did give them another batting option in the mid-lower order.

I know what you mean about internationals just coming straight into a side for the final but I think everyone wants to see the best possible players available featuring in such a showcase event. But there is something that doesn't quite sit comfortably in certain situations.

Yes they did need that big over and they really needed this partnership, with a par score at Lords around 230 ish, Notts now look on course to get around that target and perhaps beyond should these two remain through the powerplay.

Cheers mate. Big run out there, Huss is one of the best players to have at the crease in that sort of situation.

Jake Ball, and they reckon he's injured, so not too awful. Wessels about the only one fit who can be too annoyed, but it's weird because by bringing in Swann and Broad they've changed the make-up of the side. Guess they think with Broad and Swanns batting they can go with an extra bowler.

Still looks too much bowling for me.

These two are not going to get through the powerplay cos Hussey has just been run out, a great time for Glamorgan to get that wicket as we all know how dangerous Hussey can be at this stage. Read called him through and Hussey just didn't seem to react, probably a bit of ball watching from him and not hearing the shout from Read. Now for a bit of Swanneh!

Was meant as a compliment to Notts, tbh. :whistling:

Hogan looks cod ordinary, I have to say. Can't see why yer crims are so keen to get him back onboard.

His first spell was pretty decent.

Been an odd innings though, both Allenby and Hogan under-impressing, whilst Salter and Jones picking up the wickets.

Broady should be in now, ne interesting to see how the two ****oos bat here.

Ah okay Brummers. :)

Are we keen for Hogan, first I've heard of it. I mean he is a useful player to have in our Shield but he isn't anything special in one day matches, in fact he often gets overlooked for WA.

Yeah Hogan isn't a particularly good one day cricketer as a rule. He's very much a rhythm bowler who looks to charge in in Shield cricket. When he's off his game he can look a bit pedestrian there too but you know a really hostile spell of good bowling is never that far away. He bowls within himself in one day cricket which pretty much just results in consistent mediocrity.

As far as I know the only person really keen on getting him back in the fold is Justin Langer, for WA's Shield chances. He's a good Shield bowler and that's where it ends.

Hogan's picked up 28 wickets in this season's YB40 competition and is the clear leading wicket-taker so he's done something right with the white ball this year. His radar was a little off at times today but was generally pretty disciplined I thought, more so in his opening burst, though will have been pretty disappointed not to pick up a wicket or two early with the movement he was getting.

I reckon Notts have enough on the board here with the attack they have at their disposal. Glamorgan will be looking at something substantial from Allenby and Goodwin, and hope the likes of Rees and Cooke, who's been in good form in the YB40 this year, can contribute along the way. Tough ask for the Welsh side.

I have a feeling, and I hope I'm wrong, that Glamorgan are just going to implode in this chase, a couple of early wickets from the new ball pair, then Swann to pick up a couple and Glamorgan to limp towards a reasonable total without threatening to chase it down. Hopefully I will be wrong and we'll have a real game on here.

On the contrary Grecian, far from it!

Notts have a ***y bowling line-up.

Allenby the key man though.
Yes Allenby certainly the key here, liked the way Cooke has played so far aswell. These two and Goodwin, should he come him soon, can just tick along for a while and milk this bowling to a degree, though not sure Read will allow a comfortable passage of play for Glamorgan to do that and may well bring Broad back for a quick burst.
