*Official* New Zealand in Sri Lanka 2012

I'm all for batting time and playing it safe but you should not be leaving bouncers from Kulasekra with an old ball on an Sri Lankan pitch.

Franklin doesn't play cricket in moderation. If he's going to score a big one he goes really big, and if he takes wickets he takes a bag, and if he fails it's spectacular. He also really means it when he decides to bat time....

We need to put away the bad ball - but then I can't really remember any rank ones in the last half hour. Anything from Randiv outside off stump is deadly.

This defense is getting excessive though. No one bowls 40 certain dot balls in a row. The longer the score remains at 140/4 the more likely it will be 140/5, because these guys are going to bowl a beauty sooner or later. Franklin is gambling on Sri Lanka cracking before he does and he's given Sri Lanka all the say in when that will be, rather than ticking along on a strike rate of 30 or so (which is still a careful innings).

edit: like that

If you are going to take that long to get going then you need to really make a big score and not get out for 3.
