Surprised this got pinged, I guess that was just a ploy to get people to sign up to Fantasy comp.
Kandurata Warriors were the clear favourites for mine before Sanga got injured. Still think they are slight favourites because their FC specialist; Paranavitana, Samaraweera, Silva and Warnapura are move likely to hold their own against International bowlers. Then some of sides stacked with youngsters with good OD and T20 records. Even without Sanga they probably still have the best depth in Sri Lanka players. Hopefully they give Thisara Perera a shot at captaincy in Sanga absence. Add Botha and Morkel to mix, they will be going into some matches with 9 potential batting options and 6/7 bowling options.

The fact that it starts in 4 days and they sell haven't cut down the squads, makes me wonder if they are having some issues behind the scenes.
If I was the players I would be asking for payment up front, or straight after each game. |

Only a couple days away, might as well start looking at potential starting XIs
Basnahira Cricket Dundee Tillakaratne Dilshan (c) Dimuth Karunaratne (U23) Brad Hodge Marlon Samuels Sachithra Serasinghe Indika de Saram (wk) Jeevan Mendis Clint McKay Rangana Hearth Nuwan Pradeep Dirk Nannes Good all round side, but lack depth in batting both internally and domestically. With Thushara and Prasad on the bench their is option of playing an extra international batsmen in Cam Borgas. Last edited by chaminda_00; 08-08-2012 at 08:31 AM. |

Kandurata Warriors
Kumar Sangakkara (wk/c) / Kaushal Silva (wk) Tharanga Paranavitana Malinda Warnapura Thilan Samaraweera (vc) Sanath Jayasuriya Jeevantha Kulatunga Albie Morkel Thisara Perera (U23) Johan Botha Sohail Tanvir Saeed Ajmal Strong looking side, but stacked with FC batsmen who aren't know for ability to score fast against International bowlers. With Welegedara, Kulasekara and Lokuarachchi on the bench there is the option of playing one the International batsmen. Or even pushing the all rounders higher up the order. The key will be if Sangakkara doesn't play who will be their go to man with the bat. Can Jayasuriya turn back the clock. Can Morkel or Perera be more then finishers. Can Paranavitana, Warnapura, Samaraweera show they got more then one mode. Can Kulatunga prove he is more then a domestic bully. Last edited by chaminda_00; 08-08-2012 at 08:31 AM. |

Nagenahira Nagas
Ahmed Shehzad Imran Nazir Travis Birt Mitchell Marsh Angelo Mathews (c) Angelo Perera (U23) Charith Sylvester (wk) Nuwan Kulasekara Suraj Randiv Ajantha Mendis Sajeewa Weerakoon Depth what depth, not much at all either domestic or overseas players to really call on outside the starting XI. Heavy reliance on their top 4 overseas and Mathews for the runs and all Sri Lanka bowling attack for wickets. Starting XI doesn't look bad, but add a few injuries to mix they might struggle. Ruhuna Royals
Lahiru Thirimanne (U23) Richard Levi Aaron Finch Chamara Silva Shahid Afridi Dilruwan Perera Prasanna Jayawardene (wk) Shalika Karunanayake Malinga Bandara Ryan Harris Lasith Malinga (c) Got some depth and options when it comes to overseas players with Daniel Harris, Nathan McCullum, Ryan McLaren and if fit Jerome Taylor. Though they are lacking some depth with domestic players especially in batting. Will be relying on big season from some of their overseas stars and Malinga. Reckon they mid table side. Uthura Rudras
Imran Farhat Mahela Udawatte Brendan Taylor (wk) David Miller Chamara Kapugedera Jehan Mubarak Roshen Silva (U23) Farveez Maharoof Kevon Cooper Muttiah Muralitharan (c) Akalanka Ganegama Not sure who they are going to bring in for Edwards and Shakib Al Hasan. Especially Al Hasan who is massive lost. They don't have the worst side on paper and got some decent balance and depth through starting XI. Solid all round side, but lack a superstar batsmen that will score big runs. Mid table as well. Last edited by chaminda_00; 08-08-2012 at 08:32 AM. |
