T20 Cricket in Future Olympics?

I cant see the need for age restrictions or anything like that. Cricket has plenty of absolutely pointless limited-overs-torunaments or series. Why downgrade such a big stage?

Yeah, can totally see it happening, with a similar structure to the hockey tournament at the current games. Actually could be quite a fun tournament, as with the carribean islands competing independently, there would be a smoother distribution of quality, as opposed to the current grand canyon sized drop-off from the big 8 to the rest.
Yes the extra windies teams would be interesting and the players would probably like the chance to represent their country and not just their region. I dont think the drop-off is that big. Ireland and bangladesh did knock-out pakistan and india in the last world cup. T20 is even more competitve. We could see a quite large tournament with quite a few interesting match-ups with a round of games like this

pakistan v USA
Barbados v New zealand
Great Britain v Afghanistan
Australia v Nepal
Ireland v south Africa
Jamaica v India
Bangladesh v Guyana
Trinidad v Sri Lanka

Even a Twenty20 lasts nearly twice as long as a football match, so I think the IOC would still be put off. Might have to be a 10-over format ... at which point it almost ceases to be cricket. Trouble is that the game has a major image problem outside the countries in which it's played - it's seen as this long, slow game which goes on for ages because they keep stopping for tea and sandwiches - and then ends in a draw anyway. Some serious marketing would have to be done.

the problem with cricket is that it is played by only a limited number of countries while other sports are been played by many countries

Dunno why Baseball is pushed to be included while cricket (which is more popular globally) is not.

Would GBR have Scottish, Welsh and N Irish players?

Tbh I would support GBR over Pak if it did come to an Olympic T20.

Yeah unless Scotland gets independent as there seems to have some kind of developments going that way.

Well, then yeah, they will be with UK team. Don't think there would be as much fuss as it did when 2012 GB Olympic Football team was made or that any Scots (playing Scotland XI) would be selected for the team.

There wouldn't be any fuss because any Scottish cricketer who's good enough would be playing for England anyway.

Completely different story with football.
