Handscomb in; Marsh out Victorian Peter Handscomb has come in to the Australia Under-19 Squad to play Sri Lanka in Darwin with West Australian Mitchell Marsh omitted due to an ankle injury.

Handscomb is a crafty top-order batsman and wicket-keeper who has represented Victoria throughout his junior career.

The 18-year-old made his first-grade debut for St Kilda last season and will be looking to make the most of his opportunities in Darwin.

The Australia Under-19 has arrived in Darwin to prepare for five one-day matches against Sri Lanka at Gardens and Marrara Ovals, with the first match getting underway this Friday at Gardens Oval. Play starts at 10am.

Live scores from the series will be available on Cricket Australia and for all the latest news and information throughout the series log on to High Performance

The Australia Under-19 squad to face Sri Lanka is:

    Sean Abbott (NSW)
    Tim Armstrong (NSW)
    Tom Beaton (WA)
    Tom Brinsley (SA)
    Nicholas Buchanan (QLD)
    Matthew Dixon (WA)
    Luke Doran (NSW)
    Ben Dougall (SA)
    Jason Floros (QLD)
    Peter Handscomb (VIC)

Got smashed in the second game but Maddinson tonned up. Been saying it since he was 13 years old, but the kid will play for Australia. Having seen him bash us all over Rugby Park time and time again I've never been surer of anything in my life.

Lot of work to do before the world cup.

Quite a few guys missing such as Hazelwood and Marsh for starters. Was a pretty unsettled squad I'd say given they used a different captain each game and batting orders etc... were a bit all over the shop.

The batting of the side is a real worry lots of allrounders, good bowlers, hard to see us being competitive in the next youth world cup.
Our last side on paper was much better and we got nowhere.
We will have to find some new batsmen soon, and hack all the allrounders.

Sri Lanka coming down to Melbourne and playing a game here against a young Victorian side, mostly U/19.

A lot of players struggled in the last youth world cup, even Hughes barely made a run didn't he?
