    Longest ODI careers?

who has had the longest ODI careers? i can think of

    currently

    Jayasuriya : (20 years) 1989-2009

    Sachin (20 years) 1989-2009

    older players:

    Javed Miandad (21 years) 1975-1996

    Graham Gooch (19 years) 1976-1995

    Cricinfo - Records - One-Day Internationals - Longest careers

De Silva had a longer career than Gooch but thats about it.

Yah he played for USA later on in life at the 2004 champions trophy. Before that he was an average batsman for the west indies with a test hundread.

'Stats' is not a synonym for 'Career Test Averages'

That Pakistani batsman (this is Tests rather than ODIs but the point remains) who played 2 Tests over 19 years is far weirder still.

Ultimately, it will be Tendulkar, Jayasuriya, Miandad, De Silva and Wasim.

I am failing to see any one lasting that long. Possibly Ponting and SHoaib Malik have a chance.

Afridi has a chance - has a 13 year ODI career already and is still in his 20s iirc.

Yeah, makes no sense to me either. Glad to see I'm not the only one.

Very unlikely. Afridi is probably at least 3 or 4 years older than his listed birthdate.

Added to that, he's not very good.

Vettori would have a good chance of playing for close to 20 years IMO. Has already played for 12 years, is only 30 years old and is a spinner.
