Thought so too. IIRC the Aussies rated him quite highly. Not the most attractive player, with that woodchopper's stance, but I thought he was pretty good tbh.

Obviously not a lot between them in ODIs, Hick probably slightly better. What's interesting is that there's not actually a lot between them in terms of Test success - both were successful for a relatively short time: Hick 1993 to 1995 inclusive (ie, 3 years), Ijaz 1995 to 1999 inclusive (ie, 5 years).

What seals the Test matter Ijaz's way is that when Ijaz was poor he was merely poor; when Hick was poor he was generally utterly awful.

So Ijaz in Tests, Hick probably just in ODIs.

You liked Basit Ali and Mohammad Wasim better than him? ITSTL.
During the juniors Basit was considered more talented then Anwar and Inzi, started brilliantly against Ambrose, Walsh and Bishop that too away from home. Got involved in team politics lost focus and just could never recover and a promising career got ruined pretty early those who have seen him bat in his early games would know the incredible promise he showed.

As for wasim yeah Ijaz was a better player but this guy was lovely to watch even if he didn't score many runs so a soft spot for him.

Don't think Ijaz was that bad to be honest. Obviously not in the top tier of batsman but on his day was brutally effective against any bowler.

he opened with boom boom that day/night.
A 20/20 type innings before the age of 20/20.
