I think rating Sachin as the next best to Bradman is very, very debatable.
We miss you, Fardin. :(. RIP.

Yep. Second best ever with the bat is Sobers for me. From there you can take your pick, but there's a number I'd put ahead of Sachin really.

In fact the order for positions 2 to 10 of all time best batsmans has always been debatable.

    I'd probably go Benaud.

Haha exactly. Its a pretty obvious statement. Stating Viv is number 2 is just as debateable (as the Viv master or myth thread suggests, though the arguments have been repetitive), as is saying Hobbs is, as is saying Sobers is.

Bit silly really. Wisden did a study in 2001, and at that time Sachin was clearly the best batsman in the world, and was in many minds the best since Bradman. Whether those minds are right or wrong is debateable, just like the others named above.

The presence of Border and Barrington in the Top 10 is more debatable, I'd switch Sachin and Viv around.

As "digs" go, this has to be one of the more curious.

This is not about batting orders particularly in the lists other than Benaud's and Bradman's which were made by the 'authors' giving the batting orders. The 'Wisden' based lists have batting orders arbitrarily fixed by me. To judge which is a better team you mat switch the batsmen around to your choice and vote.

Border and Barrington are NOT in the first X!. They are in the second XI.

Can see the merits in both Lara & AB really - very, very different players obviously, but jeez AB is not out of place in this discussion imo.

He just wrung absolutely everything out of every skerrick of talent he had and carried his team for some time. He also played some great, great knocks against the Windies in their pomp. Just one of those "to bat for your life" players.
