Either way, I trust Fletcher to get it right and whoever takes the gloves at Trent Bridge gets my 100% support.
Exactly. Whilst I may not believe Geraint Jones is the right man for the job, I will get behind him 100% whilst he is wearing an England shirt.

So he'd actually score negative runs then?
Even the likes of Flintoff and KP need someone hanging around at the other end, not much good if as soon as one of those goes it's 7, 8, 9, 10 jack and they're stuck on 20 not out.

I'm concerned that Read would struggle to average anything in excess of Giles in Tests - in terms of his being one of those players whose batting style doesn't transfer to Tests.
Which would hardly be a big let down from Jones' average...

speaking from an English point of view Jones should be backed i honestly dont think either Read or Prior will make a difference....

i think there is too much focus on the batting of wicketkeepers, find the best gloveman and work on his batting

I'd see out the series with Jones, at least.
and beyond think about it England are touring the sub-continent & i can see Jones giving away a lot of byes while Read would be more safer while Prior wont make much of a difference. With Batting he is more likely to succeed with the bat in IND & PAK than either of the 2.

Plus Jones big weakness is with the gloves he is definately the best batsman of all the keepers in England so if he can become more solid he good to to go IMO...

He has not done much to secure his place in the team in this series, but good luck to him if he proves me wrong.

I dont understand this hysteria over Jones' keeping and one missed stumping and couple of other missed chances. I think in most such cases fielding teams are desperate for a wicket and every dropped catch is over analyzed and the WK is looked as a scapegoat.

Because the keeper is a specialist fieldsman basically.

We have seen fielders drop sitters, haven't we ? Warnie was already on 55.
But twice? Come on, thats just getting ridicolous, not only did he miss a stumping off him he also dropped him......... pathetic

Well the point is everyone knew the kind of wicket keeper he is/was. He was not selected because of his Wicket Keeping Skills but despite of that. Now why make noise when he has dropped some easy ones. If he wasn't good enough, he shouln't have been selected in the first place.
