CW Battrick Cup, season nine

oz_fan

International Regular
Won by seven wickets, Elmes making 131* (133) and Wilson making 50* (58) on debut for the club on top of Garcia's 66. Arthurton starred with the ball, talking 4/44.

Go BEST Indies!
Congrats on a well deserved win. My side scored too slowly in the first ten overs and fell away in the last 5. Elmes was the difference in the end.

Hey Hak any chance the groups for the main competition can be put up soon. With provisional spots for the sides that are quaiflying. I'm not sure what everyone else PFLs are like, but I wouldn't mind knowning the strength of group so I can sort out whether to rest players in the next two weeks, so they a fit for early cup matches.
Fair noof.

16 seeds: Asterix XI, Scaly Piscine CC, Whenuapai CC, Anchormen, Withington Wonderers, Boggles, Magical Ponies, Jamees 999ers, Cymru Gurgitaters, Jaffna Jets, Dynamo Morpork, Dalmeny Cricket Club, Four Pillars and Poor Fillers, Central Districts, Citizens Erased, Lancashire. Two seeds to a group. Asterix and Scaly Piscine would be kept away from each other.

That gives (including a randomised fixture list)

Grp A: Whenuapai CC, Tawonga Tigers, Alternative XI, Scaly Piscine CC
Grp B: Magical Ponies, Lancashire, Connells Estates United, Opening Balance
Grp C: Coco's Nuts, Four Pillars and Poor Fillers, Winner Prelim A, Boggles
Grp D: Cymru Gurgitaters, Beard XI, Citizens Erased, Second Prelim B
Grp E: Victoria Panthers, Withington Wonderers, Brackenhurst, Dynamo Morpork
Grp F: Sad Decadent XI, Asterix XI, Third Prelim B, Anchormen
Grp G: Dalmeny Cricket Club, Third Prelim A, Kipper XI, Central Districts
Grp H: Second Prelim A, Viveash, Jamees 999ers, Jaffna Jets

Fixtures are

(April 6) 1-2 3-4
(April 13) 4-1 2-3
(April 20) 1-3 2-4

Note that Coco's Nuts have been given the winner's spot in Preliminary Group B for the purposes of this draw, as they're the only team to qualify so far.

So if I come 2nd in my group I play Tharmi. Interesting.

Out of interest is it top two to qualify or just the team that comes first, for the knockout?

Got the big man out early. But as usually my back up bowler forgot how to take wickets and keep thing tight. Not sure what I can chase on an uneven pitch, they got a decent bowling attack as well.

Code:
End of Over 27: 137-1, runrate=5.07
Mcdonald 7-0-32-0
Mclean* 47 (53 balls)
Caldwell 61 (83 balls)

Last Wicket: Kepler c. Delgado b. Schutte 23 (FOW: 50/1)

Carlisle 7-0-62-0
Mclean* 65 (78 balls)
Caldwell 83 (100 balls)

Last Wicket: Kepler c. Delgado b. Schutte 23 (FOW: 50/1)

Pleasantly surprised to see us holding our own, especially with Kepler failing to make much of an impact.

Edit:

End of Over 38: 206-1, runrate=5.42
Carlisle 9-0-81-0
Caldwell* 102 (110 balls)
Mclean 73 (92 balls)

Last Wicket: Kepler c. Delgado b. Schutte 23 (FOW: 50/1)

Caldwell brings up his century with a 6, this is probably his finest innings for the side so far. 300 isn't out of the question here, but with Schutte and Hirst to return in the last 10 overs, I'd say a BT collapse is equally possible.

Decent comeback, might be able to chase that. Need the top 4 to fire.

Thought that might happen

Couldn't say which way this one is going to go tbh, Your top 4 scares me a bit, but strange things can happen on an uneven wicket.

BEST Indies v Guttedball
Guttedball won the toss and elected to bat.

Guttedball 88/10 (28.4)
Patton 4-3-1-5

BEST Indies 89/1 (15.2)
Fordham 45* off 40

What a performance from Patton, a 5fer conceding only 1 run in the process, to set up a unexpectedly easy win.

Woods 7-1-34-1

Carter-harris 33 (44 balls)

Last Wicket: Delgado b. Lucas 13 (FOW: 52/2)

In the balance, but Lucas snaring Delgado with his first ball has really given us a good opportunity here.

Big wicket from the once-again impressive Prutton - opens up the lower order, which hopefully Woods and Turner will be able to dominate in the last 10. Hamed has kept it very tight with figures of 5-0-17-0. Looking good!

Suspected something was up alright, was expecting a close game. Pitty we didn't see your full side, would of been a cracker. Next time perhaps.
