    Final tour match vs Derbyshire

Tour Match, Australia tour of England at Derby, Aug 29-31 2019

I'm assuming Pattinson, Cummins, Hazlewood and Lyon will be rested, as well as no need to bring Smith into this.

    So team could be:

    Warner
    Harris
    Khawaja
    Head
    Wade
    Marsh
    Labuschagne (spinner)
    Paine
    Neser
    Starc
    Siddle

Might depend whether TPC wants to have a hit.

The BBC has Smith down as “expected to play”.

I guess Warner could sit out again so Smith plays. Then Harris and Khawaja can open with the best bat opening with Warner in 4th Test

    I would go:

Harris Khawaja Paine+ Smith Wade Marsh Labuschagne Neser Starc Siddle Lyon

Smith to retire fit on 50. Poor Bancroft. Lyon to try and get back into wicket taking form, but definitely not be overbowled. Paine is in dire need of a hit.

    Harris
    Khawaja
    Labuschagne
    Smith
    Head
    Wade
    Paine
    Marsh
    Neser
    Starc
    Siddle

for me. Test Ussie at the top of the order and Labuschagne at 3, if that's a realistic option to fit everyone in with Smith back.

If Harris and Khawaja both made enough runs in this match to keep their spots, the next test line up of Harris, Warner, Khawaja, TPC, Labbers and Head would be the strongest middle order we've put out in quite some time.

As Harris, Khawaja and Wade are fighting for 2 spots, I hope they don't make Wade keep again like last tour game. He's in the side as specialist bat so deserves to play for his spot as one.

Shouldn’t Warner play the tour match

I wonder if Wade remembers his 155 off 71 balls the last time he played in Derby

I completely forgot Neser was in the squad.

Considering Langer has compared him to Andy Bichel before, perhaps he is just absolutely phenomenal at carrying drinks

Bichel was the best bloke too. Such a shame a spud like Lee got so many tests when the legend of Laidley got so few.
