Wow. Wicket maiden first up. Kudos Angelo; high quality bowling.

Styris is a good player of spin, NZ would do well to ensure that he isnt in too early because they need someone to navigate through 8 overs of M&M.

Ganga earlier hit it on the head when he mentioned on these pitches the first six overs offer the best chance. And we had TilDil blocking 19odd in that for 3 today. I think that'll prove to be the difference in the end.

NZ need these 2 to put on a partnership and stop the rot. Ryder went nicely, but SL are bowling well. They can't leave themselves too much to do at the death, as scoring quickly off Malinga is not an easy task by any means. Could do with Taylor hitting his straps and smashing some big boundaries.

Ryder looked fantastic. Not sure why he was trying to play inside the ball to Murali, sensed it was a matter of how soon he would either feather an edge or be bowled.
That's and Guptill's consistent 20 something knock has brought the game back to 50-50 when it needen't be. |

You can tell from Ganga's views in the commentary box why he is rated as such a good captain.
NZ must know at the back of their mind that SL have to get through another 4 overs with their pace bowlers. That really might be where the game will be decided. |
