Great second half from Spain. Portugal uninspiring thoughout though. Villa player of the tournament so far?

Gotta say, Spain v Brazil final looking almost inevitable now. Can't see anyone getting in the way except whoever Spain play in the semis, but both of them seem like reasonable matchups given Spain's style of play.

Seen it before. League Cup semi final in 1993, Pieter Huistra aimed a kick at Tom Boyd, missed completely but was still sent off.

Yea but that's fair enough getting sent off for that, there was intent and some sort of movement. Probably should have said 'for doing literally nothing', because that's what it was.

Looking at the replay it actually makes a little more sense from the refs point of view - there was clearly a swinging elbow, and the view the ref got means that it would have looked legit from where he was.

Capdevilla still an utter **** though, obv.

So that's:

Netherlands v Brazil
Uruguay v Ghana
Germany v Argentina
Spain v Paraguay

Winners of the first two to play in one semi, winners of the second two in the other.

Red for the intent Seedorf reckons. Would need to see it again personally before making a judgement on that

In futile hope that Ronaldo would cry?

Yeah, I don't think it's for the elbow. If you watch it again in real time there's an incident after the challenge that causes the Spain player to fall down holding his face (again). I don't think the Portuguese player touched him but he might have been sent off for the intent.

As much of a **** as Maradonna is, it sounds like he is a fantastic man-manager. All the players seem to absolutely adore him and he seems like he really cares about his players and is actually very nice to them.

Argentina also a pretty likeable team as well, Messi people awesome because he just gets on with it, never dives, never complains, gets foules tonnes, is a great player and seems like a lovely bloke too.

Haha, dunno about the never dives bit tbh. Though he probably dives less frequently than other similar types of players.

Well he's probably done it once or twice, but he's infinitely better than any other player in the same position than anyone else in football at the moment, in that respect.

Well, he and Ronaldo perform a similarish role. Though I would say Messi is better, I would say suggesting he is "infinitely" better is stretching it quite a lot.

I was referring to his attitude towards diving and cheating

Haha, oh ok, even so, it's a fairly moot point tbh. Though he arguably might be better, I would still say he is hardly whiter than white.
