Interviews
Andrew Cloete - Tamil Nadu
In the 3 seasons of WCC, which 1 trade that you have made do you regret making the most?
Not too sure. Having only been at TN for a decent period of time. And so far my trades have basically all payed off.
Out of all 30 WCC teams, where do you rate your side?
Probably in the top 10 four day. And in the top 20 one day.
What 1 thing would you most like changed in WCC?
Trading at any time!!
What is your sides biggest weakness?
One day batting
What do you think your side needs to change to be a serious threat in WCC?
I would like to see more batsman over 40 in four day. And also my one day batting!
What 1 win in your WCC coaching career sticks in your mind above all others?
Probably my recent win against WA in four day. Shrinivas had a possessed spell of bowling and single-handedly won the match. Going through a devistating WA top order with some extremely high batting averages!
You have picked up a great rookie in N Kumble, what do you hope to achieve by sending him to the academy?
Well so far Y Engineer hasn't been living up to his expectations. By sending Kumble to the academy I hope for him to gain more match experience and also may-b improve his impecable averages! So hopefulyl he lives up to his expectations.
What are your expectations for the rest of the season?
I hope to see TN avoiding relegation in one day, however this is unlikely. But i expect the boys to finish in the top 3 in div 2 four day.
Do you have a nickname? if so what is it?
yep. it's just my last name. Cloete pronounced Clue-tee :)
Which world sporting event would you most like to see live?
Football(soccer) World Cup. Biggest sporting event in the world and I would love to be there soaking up the atmosphere.
Who is your favourite cricketer and why?
Difficult question! Probably be Bevan. I just love the way he picks gaps and runs the fielding team ragged(sp? :P). I think it would only be justice to see him getting a FAIR go in the test team.
What do you see yourself doing in 10 years?
Hopefully playing some form of professional sport. Most likely cricket or football(soccer). However i wouldn't mind seeing myself in a fairly high up position in sports management.
