Interviews

Blewy

You took over South Australia during season 1, what do you see is the major difference between that side and the one you have now?

The side i took over was very old and also lacked alot of depth, my main aim since taking over has been to introduce the youth as well as making it a side in which all 16 players can make the 1st team.. The addition of a few key allrounders has also held immensly...

Do you have any trading regrets?

My biggest regret in trading was releasing A.Jones, before season 2... His stats were good but i thought i could do without him and he has since turned out to be one of the best in the WCC, A BIG REGRET!!!!

Which player from all the other WCC team would you most want in your side?

Other than Jones, i would have to say either D.Ferguson from NSW or S.Maxwell from ACT...

With the season half over, have you made up your mind which players will not be retained for season 4?

At this stage there are a couple of definates, Rueben Paul and Pawar. Whilst the unfortunate injury to Miller may see the end of his time at SA, Others are still under consideration

As CEO, do you have any major plans in line for WCC?

There are a couple of big plans lined up, Some which are known others which i am considering, Things such as the New Sim program and Mid Season trading are the main priority at this stage...

How do you rate your teams chances of success for the rest of the season?

Well our season has been a great success so far but there is still plenty of time for it to turn bad... Our goal is to remain consistent and we are confident of being there come seasons end...

Which WCC team do you see as a dark horse for the coming seasons?

I see Warwickshire and Tamil Nadu as the 2 who could really move up the rankings, both have some good players and with good trading and drafts over the next couple of seasons i expect to see them challenge...

Do you think you will be very active on the trading front in the off season?

Alot depends on how the rest of our season pans out, If our 1st team continues its form and our rookies maintain their performances in the Academy then we may not need to be very active, but still if there is talent to get then i will be in the line as much as anybody else...

Do you see WCC getting bigger, as far as more teams or more games within the next few seasons?

This is an issue which has alot of mixed reaction, the season needs to find the right mix, length wise.. To many games gets people dis-interested and they tend to dissapear, but if we can introduce a mid season trade period then we may be able to aleviate this problem.. As for more teams, it will get increasingly more difficult to bring in new teams now as alot of teams players have been brought in... If new teams were to enter down the track then i would maybe like to implement teams such as Scotland, USA, and other minnow countries, and give them a rookie system like ACT...

Darren Lehmann has been the heart of your batting line up for 3 seasons now, how hard will it be to replace him when he does move on?

Boof is a genius.. He is without doubt the most consistent performer in the WCC and when he does eventually move on he will leave a HUGE hole in our line-up.. This is the main reason i am maintaining the youth policy, If i can get a few rookies to put together a few good seasons then they may be able yo fill that hole...

What do you expect to get out of your rookies next season?

I expect big things from both rookies, maybe not next season as it does take time to make a consistent impression. But they have the ability, especially Adam, he could be my next Lehmann...

Which WCC teams do you most enjoy beating?

Well any win is enjoyable, to defeat Bugssy's NSW is always fun as is a win over Mumbai... But the team i always enjoy defeating is Kent, They seem to have had a good record against me over the years and we always have very close games..

After your disapointing loss to Auckland in the VB cup, how important will it be to perform well in that competition next season?

VB Cup, Whats that???? No seriously the VB Cup was very dissapointing, It is a competition we have struggled in over the years with only 1 win and i thought this year we were a big chance.. To go down as badly as we did was also very dissapointing but i think the loss could actually help our season as the boys are eager to erase the humiliation.. Providing we achieve our goals this season then next season we will definatley be targeting the VB Cup....

What 3 items would you take with you for a week on a deserted Island?

Computer with CM4, a Keg of Beer, & my West Tigers jersey

and which 3 people would you want to spend the time with?

My fiance Berlinda, Christina Aguliera, and Brittney Spears..

Greg Blewett is obviously your favourite cricketer, why is he your favourite?

No who said that??? Yeah Blewy is a star, The reason i enjoy him so much is i love the way he bats, The way he plays his strokes is amazing.. Its a dissapointment for me to see him with so much talent but not get alot of International exposure...

Outside of sport what are your hobbies?

I love my computer, also spending time with my fiance.. I also enjoy getting away to the country and relaxing...

25 words or less, describe yourself.....

Funny, easy going, relaxed, easy to get along with, unless you get on my bad side...
