Zimbabwe,something has to change.

The ICC are not going to do anything. They don't care. Like Henry says, they fine players for having logos on their bats and they confiscate people's drinks if they aren't made by their financial backers, but a country's most successful sport is dying right in front of everyone, and they can't (actually I think it's more a case of won't) do anything. They are a useless bunch of bureaucratic nonentities, fiddling whilst Rome burns.

If Chingoka and Bvute remain in power for six more months Zimbabwe Cricket will have imploded and it will be finished. There will be no plausible option save to take the test and ODI status away from them.

The death threats and the works of Mliswa have been discussed on the Zimbabwe Domestic Season Thread too.

They're prescence is making everyone's statistics and averages meaningless.

A poor batsman like Bell is probably going to retire with a better average than so many quality batsman of yesteryear.

Disgusting.

No, in another moment of posting "£"*& you forgot that Bell's runs were made against Bangladesh and not Zimbabwe.

England aren't full of poor players.

I admit Udal is one of the best bowlers in the world.

That's a bit harsh, Bangladesh are on the way up.

Zimbabwe though are going in the opposite direction, through no fault of the players.

Why do you persist in posting rubbish, especially now your previous incarnation on these boards has been exposed?

The view of the ICC is clear. If the political power in a specific country objects to a match vs Zimbabwe, its not on. Else they are not going to intervene.

When countries cannot make statements against Zimbabwe, why should cricket go out of the way to make statements?

But that would require votes of the test playing nations in the ICC board. Who themselves are not doing it obviously. It would be worth appreciating if cricket as a body did it. If they do not, its some thing we can feel sad about but home political powers and international community are more to blame than the ICC in general.

There are two issues at play here. One is simply pertaining to human rights in Zimbabwe. Many of us have debated this until we're blue in the face, but as it stands, it's obvious that right or wrong, the ICC are determined not to "intervene in a political issue".

But the other issue is actually even less understandable in terms of their inability to act, and is immediately relevant to the ICC's charter: the way cricket is being run in Zimbabwe. When you have a board run by Mugabe's political cronies, following their own political and racial selection agenda, who are corrupt and out-and-out threatening players, including the captain of the national team, who had to move his family somewhere safer after receiving threats, the ICC has absolutely nowhere to hide, and the repeated insistence that things are fine in Zimbabwe from Ehsan Mani and the ICC figureheads, despite this and the "rebel" fiasco earlier, is blatantly negligent of their mandate as guardians of the game.

And yes, there are definitely nation representatives that share this culpability.

All it says is that the ICC is incompetent, but very happy with their incompetence. Yes, they're not making excuses for the way they've acted, but they are trying to excuse themselves from doing anything about it. The world is watching and quite simply, the ICC has fallen short.

South Africa should feel hard-done by.

Well I guess we can just judge the ICC on how they have handled (or not Zimbabwe)..

I mean how can you just "lose" an entire cricketing nation? Takes some disgusting malpractice doesn't it..

LOL @ everyone continously replying to the troll, giving them the attention they crave. Never learn I guess.

Anyway there clearly is a massive problem in Zimbabwe but if the ICC aren't going to do anything about it cricket there will continute to fall. :(
