Women's football stuff that doesn't deserve its own thread

Losing your first game while playing poorly, behind in each knock out match, all going to ET, two penalty victories, an injury time equaliser and last minute winner in the SF.

Winning after that might be luck, and luck always plays its part. Other words to use could be resilience, endurance, fighting spirit, fitness, doggedness, determination... and plenty of skill and ability

In the end, it's the name on the trophy that matters.
It’s some serious high level shithousery, but they never gave up and always found a way. The only team Spain couldn’t beat.

And I reckon they were behind for 174 minutes of those games!!
Yeah but if it was Germany everyone would be enthusing about how they always find a way.

For all Spain's quality, that laboured to victory over a really weak Switzerland in the QFs and took 113 minutes to overcome a German side everyone thought were poor and exhausted having played 110 minutes with ten players in the QF.

Apparently Carter was due to take our next one if Kelly missed, which, given the circumstances, was seriously brave.

And apparently Bronze played the whole tournament with a fractured tibia, which is just ridiculous.

Well done England, better to be lucky than good sometimes, and they were good enough to get lucky when it mattered.
It's funny, my daughters got properly into football in this tournament for the first time. They have no idea how much luck was involved in this victory (seriously, they thought I was being unsporting when I said they'd certainly had a fair share), the likes that the men's team have been completely alien to over the last 40 years. I guess we should've known from the moment Sweden somehow missed 2 penalties to win the QF that it was written somewhere in the stars.
