Cricketer Of The Year
So the comparison is not about who was the best bowler, but rather who was closest to matching McGrath's style of excellence?

So if we were to ask this question for Michael Jordan, the answer would be Kobe, even though Lebron is a better player, if that makes sense.

I think Shaun Pollock because he was known for his accuracy like McGrath and had similar pace. Plus both bowlers were known for going for subtle movement over prodigious like Asif (all of this is based on what I read).

Pollock was essentially a contemporary of McGrath so can't be "the next", while Clark was a late bloomer who had a relatively short career as a stop gap post McGrath.

Asif always seemed to be the obvious next in line. How tall was he? A Google search suggests 1.93m (6'4") but I thought he was shorter.

Asif was a better new ball bowler than McGrath because he could generate more movement off the pitch and in the air.
