We might. We cannot absolutely say for sure that we can win. We are still too inconsistent.

I'm not comparing India with Bangladesh as others, all I'm saying is that we still haven't PROVED to the absolute certainty that we can win a Test series outside Asia.
But like I said a few posts earlier and again another million posts ago, this side is very spirited and posesses the fighting qualities and attacking instincts besides the sheer talent, to win outside Asia, something no other side posessed. Sourav Ganguly has been winning tests away from home for sometime now and after we put up such a wonderful show in Australia, matching the best, a similar performance will win us the next away series. Read what I posted earlier -
Lots more than you have to say for Bangladesh's chances. Our awesome batting - SRT, Dravid, Sehwag, and Laxman. Our improved bowling - Pathan, Balaji, Zaheer, Kumble, Harbhajan, AA. Our recent performances and our team spirit. There's more, like our improved catching and ground fielding, a keeper who is improving both with gloves and bat, and a superb captain.
These aspects have just been improving and have been better every time, more than just consistent.

Upper hand because yes, we made Australia go for a draw.

Not a chance of winning, because we didn't have the bowling to topple the Aussies line-up.
No! Like I said those umpiring decisions and if we would've just knocked over Katich, we were into the tail and could've knocked them over quickly (and we had the bowling for that) OK?

But we go through these slumps so often. We did that in Melbourne. Day 1 we were is an awesome position till Tea, and then threw it away.

Lahore another.

So out of 6 Tests, we played exactly opposite to what our skills deserve on two occassions.

Are 6 Tests enough to be absolutely sure of what we are claiming here?

Australia continued their consistent performance for years to be named World Champs.

But we needn't be World Champs to win a series outside Asia! Why if England can win a series in Pakistan then we can definitely win a series outside Asia. That's the only thing being debated here, let's not even get into when India will be world champs.

Ok, should we perform the final rites then? Because this thread is a mess now.

Based on 6 Tests, are you so absolutely sure, so as to say that we can win our next Test series away from Asia?

Just out of curiosity, when?

PS: When did I say England will win in Pakistan, before we win outside Asia?

Yeah and that IF means a chance. 8-)
So there's the difference of opinion. I'm not saying that India can't win their next series outside Asia, they just might. But I'm not in the position to say that we can win the next one with certainty. That stage would come if India can win at least one or two of their next 5-6 series, and draw the others.

This thread has just changed topic. If not for this jib jab it would've just been buried and forgotten(though now it's time). No problem, it's just like as if we started a new thread.
And yes i say we can win the next series outside Asia. I'll kiss this thread goodbye now becuase I've repeated the same things a million times and am now sick and tired of it. And you can believe whatever you want.

October 2004 ;)
And erm England have won their previous series in Pakistan. In anycase if you ask marc he'll tell you Bangladesh will win before us.

Oh, I knew that. I thought you were alleging me of saying that England will win on their next tour of Pakistan, before India wins outside Asia.

October 2004, eh? Let's see. I'll put a more realistic answer to that. 2007.

No, Marc suggested that, in all likelihood, Bangladesh would win a test match before India won a test series outside Asia.

Way to misrepresent. Who the hell do you think you are - me?

Because we don't have a tour scheduled anywhere outside the subcontinent for a TEST series till then.......

That is the whole point of what we've been saying 8-)

What are we hyping? It's all fact. And this all started with some people bluntly dismissing India's capablity of winning a series outside Asia, and then going on to say Bangladesh have a better chance of winning a test match before India, even if India played an away series now.

Actually, nobody has said that at all at any point.

The Aussies themselves admitted they were only trying to save the game.

And at 338-4 with only a few overs to go they were never seriously in trouble...

It's always the umpires...

And that Aussie tail is by no means the easiest to knock over...

What relevance does that have?

England won that series 3 or 4 years back, so how does that impact the current side of any nation?
