Dude they are close with Tendulkar have an edge over Smith.
Yea they are close but in output. They will give you similar number of runs for sure. But in terms of level of actual skill, technique, class, shot making.... overall batsmanship, its not so close.

It's like Messi and Ronaldo - hypothetically they may have same number of goals, same stats/output, but one is certainly more skilful (& majestic).

Skill (Sachin, Hutton) vs Talent (Smith, Viv)

@Burgey @Coronis either of you can tell us who the top five batsmen ever in the mind of Australian journalists, pundits and hardcore cricket enthusiasts would be, one is obviously Bradman, who are the other four?

I can tell you that the MCG museum guide and cricket enthusiast of nearly 80 years certainly thinks it's Sachin

Smith is adaptable and while ugly, makes it work.

Smith is incredibly skilled and super adaptable. He has managed to keep scoring because of this.
His peak was born out of some of the most freak speed and physical gifts I've seen, I genuinely believe if someone else tried that they'd be LBW every other stump ball.
