Broad&Archer were on fire in that series and Smith was immovable. Doubt a batsman has ever seemed further away from getting out in my time following.

Stuart Broad has a poor away record

12 Tests. 16 wickets. Avg of 56. SR of 112.
He never bowled in Pakistan, though, Broad was a bad bowler period for his first few years, he learnt and improved, before his breakthrough series against India in 2011 he had a bad record all around.

After that he developed into a good bowler and stayed that way for the rest of his career.

A beast at home but respectable/decent away from home.

He toured India in 2012 with an injury.

He's a bit unproven in Asia outside UAE imo but Anyway, it doesn't matter if he was proven in Asia, Smith was facing him in England.

International Vice-Captain
Average of 32
2.9 WPM.
One 5-Fer in every 10 games
Broad is nothing special.
Good at home. Poor in away conditions.

Don't you think only "good" at home and "not good" overall is a bit, a bit harsh on him?
Not really.

If he was a beast at home like Ashwin, maybe I am too harsh on him.

Broad
Home : 98 Tests. 398 wkts @ 26. 14 5-Fer.
Home(since 11) : 81 Tests. 343 wkts @ 25. 12 5-Fer.

Maybe I should have chosen better words.

Broad : Good at home. Poor overseas bowler.
Overall not sure what is the word to describe him.
