Which player would you select in your average side?

Average teams do not exist.
the concept is fundamentally weird to me as I don't think I've seen a side consistently average in everything, average sides either have good batting/bad bowling (2000s Pakistan) or good bowling bad batting (current India)

Closest for this decade would be India’s batting (or Afghanistan’s) plus England’s bowling. Statistically, at least.

Sure, but the term "average" isn't helpful at all. Two teams can be average, but still may require totally different things.
So, I think, one should first create an average team, and then ask which players would we prefer in that team.

I am assuming in this hypothetical by average side, we are talking bats that are all average, maybe mid 30s averaging all, and bowlers that are all average, maybe late 20s and early 30s types.
