name two average teamsATG bowler would have more of an impact in a test match than an ATG batsman.
That's a good question. Before all of this average side threads, one should define an average side. Or maybe construct an average side consisting of 11 average players.name two average teams
SL, NZ.name two average teams
Sobsrs for NZ, Hadlee for SLSL, NZ.
the concept is fundamentally weird to me as I don't think I've seen a side consistently average in everything, average sides either have good batting/bad bowling (2000s Pakistan) or good bowling bad batting (current India)Average teams do not exist.
Closest for this decade would be India’s batting (or Afghanistan’s) plus England’s bowling. I would take Gary for that side.Closest for this decade would be India’s batting (or Afghanistan’s) plus England’s bowling. Statistically, at least.
1990s EnglandAverage teams do not exist.
Sure, but the term "average" isn't helpful at all. Two teams can be average, but still may require totally different things.1990s England
Boring & average at the same time
This team would benefit more from Richard Hadlee than Gary SobersAttempt to create an average team:-
Zak Crawley
Kris Srikkanth
Ollie Pope
Shubhman Gill
Litton Das
Moeen Ali
Denesh Ramdin+
Umar Gul
Monty Pasener
Lasith Malinga
Chris Martin
Basically mid tier sides that are not minnows or unusually bad. In the 80s would be India or England.Average teams do not exist.
Sobers and Hadlee would've roughly similar impact on this team.Attempt to create an average team:-

I am assuming in this hypothetical by average side, we are talking bats that are all average, maybe mid 30s averaging all, and bowlers that are all average, maybe late 20s and early 30s types.Sure, but the term "average" isn't helpful at all. Two teams can be average, but still may require totally different things.
So, I think, one should first create an average team, and then ask which players would we prefer in that team.
There is no mid tier side that wouldn't benefit more from Hadlee than Sobers IMO.This team would benefit more from Richard Hadlee than Gary Sobers
