If you are a captain and sending out a batsmen out to effectively take down the below bowlers who are bowling well in their respective spells in suitable conditions, which worldclass or ATG level batsman, not Bradman, would you send out to face each one? Do not pick a selection that has actually faced them though in their respective primes.

Bowlers:

Ambrose
Warne
Wasim
Peak Jeff Thomson
Peak Waqar
Jimmy Anderson
Ashwin

Wasim - Garry Sobers
Peak Jeff Thomson - Peak Virat Kohli
Peak Waqar - Peak Viv Richards
Jimmy Anderson - Jack Hobbs
Ashwin - Virendra Sehwag

But for peak Waqar, you need some who'll counterattack and someone with god-level reflexes. So Viv seems correct for him.

Viv had his issues against Wasim and Imran yorking him. Waqar was the god of it. The player needs to play late, play flicks, use the pace well, rather than full bludgeon with a massive back lift as Viv did.

Martin Crowe was the pioneer to pay those hooping inswingers. Then Aravinda and Sachin caught up with it. Then rest of the batsmen followed.

Logically:
Ambrose: Ponting(great against bounce)
Warne: Sehwag
Wasim: ??
Thomson: Kohli
Waqar: Viv
Anderson: Hobbs(easiest choice)
Ashwin: Sehwag

Playing against Wasim, Viv had already had his eye surgery by then, so not sure if his reflexes were at their best. With Viv, his reflexes were so good, I think he would be good enough. Imran himself talked about Richards ability to lock himself into any position within time

I see KP doing exceptionally well against Ambrose for some odd reason, though he is not ATG.

He's not ATG but he was world class as you added. ATG limits the sample too much for this. Pietersen had his flaws but I suspect his approach has more chance against Ambrose/McGrath types than strictly playing percentages. Definitely if the pitch has some pace.

Viv has a more than acceptable record vs Pakistan.
