Where Does Rishabh Pant Stand Among the Great Wicketkeeper-Batters in Test Cricket?

Rishabh Pant is already India's best Test wicketkeeper-batter-no debate there. But can he go even further and join the likes of Gilly?
How high can he climb in the all-time greats list?

Not sure how. His ceiling is probably Gilly’s level with the bat, but he’s easily an inferior keeper.
Imo he can surpass Gilly with the bat. But he's definitely quite inferior with the gloves and hence even if he does pass him with the bat, I still don't think it would be enough to go over Gilly overall.
Knott, Ames, etc. could be a good match up though by the time his career ends.

If we are talking about WK batsmen, there are only 2-3 who are better than him with the bat.
Walcott, Sanga, Flower and Abd I assume. But none except Flower were full time keepers. Pant is probably a slightly better keeper than Flower but a clearly worse batsman as of now.
He's also behind Gilly with the bat for now, but I can see him overtaking Gilly there.
Overall though, anywhere from no 2-3 to no 9-10 could be possible.

ABD. Flower. Gilly.
These were the batsmen ahead of Pant for now.
I admit I forgot about Walcott.

Despite his young career, Rishabh has already ranks 3rd in centuries and 15th in total runs among all Test wicketkeepers.

This is interesting : Rishabh Pant is only 27 years and 262 days old. He is three months younger than Adam Gilchrist was when he played his first Test.

Hopefully, his wicket-keeping gets better over time. I'm hoping for the best.

It's hard to say, he is a fairly average to below average glovesmen but is a great batsman but I do think his average would dip to more reasonable low 40s at the end of his career, I don't think he'll surpass Gilchrist, Walcott, De Villiers etc but I think he can reasonably surpass someone like Ames or Knott, if he hasn't already.

I personally think that his keeping has declined a lot since the accident.

Flower was a genuinely bad keeper tbh. Terrific batsman though. I would have Pant ahead of him already as a complete keeper-batsman package. His lateral movement is problematic, more so since his car accident. Brilliant player though. Could readily end up with a better batting record than Gilly.

@capt_Luffy Yet another person who viewed Flower thinking he wasn't a respectable keeper at all.

That's interesting.
