What is the Criteria for being a Commentator on Cricinfo's match commentary?

What's the selection process like?

Same with scorers. Why are there mostly Indians in a company that is based in Connecticut?

All answers are welcomed

They'll soon be able to train a neural net to do a pretty good job of it, I think.

I think it has moved its headquarters to India now. I feel bad for Eisha Acton, rather than having her cover first Test match of her country, they have her in OTT coverage of IPL lol

Most Indians in US have a relaitively strong math background, so you expect them to be stats junkie!

The HQ for cricinfo may be ESPN's HQ in Connecticut, but I highly doubt they're basing their cricket operations from there.

I believe when they live score games they allow a local scorer at the venue to use their system to score the game

Not sure about when ball by ball commentary is involved. For sure they watch the games on TV for some of the matches, they often end up making references to what the commentators are staying.

This could have been an interesting topic to discuss on Cricket Web Podcast. Am I right?

AFAIK, most of their commentary is done by sitting in front of a TV in their office in Bangalore.
Yeah I'm guessing this is it. Would save so much money plus they can forward/rewind if they miss anything. They probably travel for the games that aren't televised (WCL, domestic games, etc).

For certain games they may even be relying on APIs to access ICC's own live scoring.

Where Daemon says that article is interesting, this is one of those times not to trust everything he says ;)

That's a great article, thanks.

Getting the on-strike batsmen completely muddled and then spending five minutes fixing it up when a wicket falls is considered an advantage.
