West Indies 50 Over CG Insurance Cup

Motie is class. Lewis and Simmons were going at a healthy rate and as soon as Motie got into the attack, he applied pressure and the scoring was not as freely...he eventually got the wicket of Lewis

I think Motie and Smith get a huge amount of credit for their performance in the toughest possible scenario. The selectors should take note as those two were bowling against international standard players on the go.

Leon is an excellent tactician but he got it wrong today, he gave Nial an impossible task bowling 5 on the trot at the death.

Still T & T were the better team by a mile and this was over the second they got Hety bout.

So for me, Motie and Smith should be on the selectors radar. They should also keep an eye on Quinton Boatswain and Keacy Carty.

Only a couple of things disappointed me about the tournament. Firstly, the wrist spinners were very average and showed nowhere near enough control for international level outside of Imran khan who hardly turns the ball anyway. We need some new wrist spinning talent desperately.

Secondly too many players couldn't rotate strike. Hitting boundaries is not a problem for west Indians, we do it better than anyone else basically, but we are by far the worst at rotating strike and I didn't see much progress from the fringe players here.

All in all, a pleasing tournament though.

That was a great tournament, lots of decent totals and a good pitch too! Good to see majority of the international players giving their all. Shame reifer couldn't complete his century in the final innings

Congratulations to the TT team. Kieron Pollard and his men showed professionalism and a quality of cricket that was leaps and bounds above the competition. I'm gonna go out of my way and even say that this team is capable of winning a 50 over World Cup. That dominant they were.

Looking at the bigger picture: how Windies white ball cricket progresses.

I think Simmons and Lewis form an explosive opening pair. Both are big hitters. Both can play second fiddle to the other. Both can turn up the heat when necessary.

Darren Bravo picked up some form in this competition; much needed as he prepares to represent West Indies in a few days time.
Nicholas Pooran saved his best knock for the final. It's good that he's in good nick prior to the internationals.
