Was Steve Waugh a selfish cricketer? - yes according to Chappelli

Just looking over the list, what a mess. Borderline laughable Swann is in there. Just on spinners alone, Derek Underwood, Stuart MacGill and even John Emburey are more deserving of being in there than him.

Don’t think Doug Walters deserves to be in there, let alone that high. Allan Border way too low, as is David Gower. Jimmy Anderson should be a fair bit lower.

And wrt Botham, isn't there a story of Chappell hightailing it out of some pub with Beefy at his back? Chappell keeps grudges and lets them influence his objectivity. Bad recipe.

Omission of Taylor much more interesting than Waugh's, personally. Aside from having a really good overall Ashes record anyway, Tubb's first full series is still the 3rd highest number of runs on a Test series ever and that in the Aussies' first Ashes win in England for 20 years. Aside from the raw number of runs, one would think he'd deserve a place in any 'best Ashes performer' list for that alone.
Taylor is probably the best Australian captain over that period. Chappell was always a huge Slater fan though, so was always going to pick him.

I believe Chappell. Chappell didn't back down at all. In fact he called out Botham in an interview giving his side of the story and flat out called Botham a liar and if he was offended then invited him to take him to court.

According to Bumble's book, Botham was stepping on a bus during the 2010 ashes and Chappell happened to be near. Chappell called Botham a dickhead or something or other and Botham went to swing for Chappell but was pulled back by Bumble.

I just noticed he didn't put broad in the list at all. That's complete nonsense. Surely Broad>>>>Anderson in Ashes cricket.

His justification is the Don saying that out of the pool of modern players, Slats reminded him of himself the most. Must have been his penchant for getting out in the 90's.

Slater was a gun. Will always maintain he was a better opener than Hayden.
