IPL, UAE, Saudi, SA etc all with common ownership

Next step is 12 month contracts

If you’re, say, Cameron Green and get offered a 5 year, $50 million contract with the stipulation that you can’t sign a CA contract & must give priority to the franchise then it will be hard to knock back

Can see that this is the future

This smacks of LIV Golf - ignore the legacy and history of the game and just throw stupid amounts of money at players to persuade them to jump ship. They'll need a better front man than Greg Norman for this to be a success.

Cricket is very different to golf in that the majority of a player’s income is from contracts awarded annually

Imagine being in Matt Renshaw’s position

Recently played for Australia, scores 3 hundreds for Australia A but gets passed over for a CA contract

Franchise comes along and offers him life changing money on a multi year deal

Hard to knock back

It could cause a lot of disruption in the medium term but over the long run cricket can only survive as a global sport if there's strong national and local level competition.

Doesn't matter if there is a TV audience that'd make it worthwhile.
it absolutely matters because the entertainment factor on the TV relies on an atmosphere which is impossible to achieve over there. it’s the reason the gulf could never replace the english football premier league either

Yeah, but the "audiences" gambling on the matches don't need to see a crowd on TV. Tbh they don't even need to see the game at all.

All these T20 tournaments popping up and yet still only one tournament of The Hundred.

I just don't understand how that hasn't gone global yet. Oh wait...

It genuinely doesnt matter. Would be no different to the Pak UAE games

If this was two years ago this would be a classic ZIRP but frankly that still applies now. All this **** stinks of pyramid schemes that will inevitably collapse under their own weight. Just have to hope it doesn't take the rest of the sport with it.

Again, I'll link it back to LIV Golf. They've got virtually no one attending the tournaments, no serious TV deal and barely anyone bothering to stream it on Youtube. But they don't care, it's just a form of sportswashing. How long LIV survives for, I'm not sure. But it's not a money making venture, it's almost the complete opposite.
