Warne blasts Bracewell

yeah I know we've talked about the illusion of player stats b4 - but it's a prime example of them only telling half the story..........the other half being the circumstances in which those figures were obtained..........

for example talking about Marshall - IMO he has done so well at intnl level v domestic as a result of the better quality pitches having truer pace & bounce - something we have mentioned at the time of his initial ODI selection to PAK...........

it's another of my 'therories' that the pitches provided for intnls in NZL are of a better quality that those generally in domestic comp - sounds obvious but with such a contrast it becomes quite an adjustment to be made by players (both with bat & ball) whose style is more suited to getting under the ball or relying on the wicket assistance when bowling..........

what right does some drug cheat have to make comments like these?. warne had his fair share of controversies's over the year's and he's copped little slack for them. if i was him i would just shut my mouth.

Well simply by looking at the domestic batting-averages relative to Australia it's fairly clear that NZ domestic pitches aren't anywhere near as good as the intl matches tend to be...
Of course we do still see the odd few huge seamers in Test-matches in New Zealand.
A couple of questions: how many specialist-cricket-stadiums are there in NZ? And how often on the rugby-stadiums (in internationals and domestic games) are drop-in pitches used?

We all know that Warne and shutting mouths doesn't often happen, regrettable as it often is.

Just because Warne is a hypocrite, doesn't mean his points are less valid.

as far as I know only The Basin & Hamilton are specialist cricket grounds at 1st class level - & Hamilton has lost any intnl matches for several seasons..........

so far as drop in pitches are concerned it would appear that they are now used fairly extensively - especially at this time of year because of the RFU season.....

it would appear my last re pitches is not up to the mark - i have been advised on another thread that there are a number of non dual purpose grounds being used at domestic level - probably at least another half dozen.................

stuffs my theory re dual purpose grounds & drop in pitches somewhat..............

Well I just think the sooner you guys can get drop-ins used at the rugby stadiums for every List-A (First-Class and one-day) game the better.

Pukekura Park, University Oval, Lincoln Green and Molyneux Park - all specialist cricket grouinds I can think of off the top of my head.

The pitch for this test is actually the same one used for the World XI match a couple of months ago.- the groundsman was going to use a drop-in pitch but decided this pitch would hold up.

How often do they get First-Class\List-A-OD games?

So even international matches are still sometimes played on non-drop-in pitches?

University Oval is the new home ground for Otago cricket - there's a match being played there as I type.

Pukekura Park is one of the main grounds used by Central Districts, along with McLean Park.

Molyneux Park is one of the summer holiday grounds for Otago - probably 3 List A matches and one first-class match there every year.

Lincoln Green/Village Green is one of the back-up grounds for Canterbury cricket - used quite often instead of Jade Stadium and hosts lots of cricket.

Yes - and there was a Super 12 match on the ground the previous week - because of a lack of any sprig marks on the pitch following the match, the groundsman kept it in.

And imminent possibility of them being elevated to international ranks (the regulars, that is)? Or are they all too small (not that recent crowds suggest that's much of a problem :()

Wow - and these pitches are as up-to-standard as a drop-in?

University Oval is being geared towards being used for test matches - very nice ground too.
Pukekura Park is just a bit too small - boundary-wise - and as it's a natural amphitheatre, there's no real opportunity to push the boundaries out.

The pitch in use today doesn't seem too bad at all.
