Viv Richards never faced fast bowlers, fastest bowler he ever faced was Brydon Carse level, rest were Chris Woakes and Ollie Robinson with half the skill.

This method seems flawed, imo. An average runs per wicket of less than 30 doesn’t automatically mean the entire series was low scoring. You can still cash in during a high-scoring game within the same series and skew the numbers.

The better way to check who performed in genuinely low-scoring games is to look at all the matches where the 'x' player played and the average runs per wicket in that specific match was ≤30. You have to go match by match.

If I remember correctly, last time I checked, Tendulkar had a better batting average than both Smith and Sobers in such low-scoring games.

In games with sub 30 RPW.

Steve Smith has scored 2734 runs in 98 innings with 8 not outs at 30.71 avg with 5 centuries.

Sir Viv Richards scored 3421 runs in 92 innings at an AVG of 40.72 with 7 centuries and 8 not outs.

Viv is the king.

And we also recently checked, Viv has a higher percentage of series averaging 50 plus. So the consistency argument is gone too.

The real question is which way does @Prince EWS vote since he doesn’t rate Viv as highly as others but iirc also significantly downgrades Smith due to Aussie pitches.

Jeez, people just don't rate cool Cricketers anymore, it's just the lame ass Gavaskars and Boycotts now.

Today’s cricket teams would love to defensive batsmen like Boycott & Sunil Gavaskar. The art of playing 200 balls is almost lost among batsmen today.

as this forum highlights, people can argue about anything. But this is one bridge too far even for people here
BS Chandrasekhar played 23 Tests outside Asia.
He took a 5-Fer eight times.
WestIndies(2)
England(2)
Australia(3)
NewZealand(1)

In 26 SENA Tests, Ashwin took zero 5-Fers.
The only place he was successful was in WestIndies and they have been **** for a long time.
