It really depends if you’re looking at Khawaja the opener or his entire career imo.

Purely as an opener Usman is better but yeah too small a part of his career really. Would also like to see him tour a few more places but eh he getting old.

Context is important, post was made in 2019 ..

By 2019,
Khawaja only had 44 tests to his name , scored 2887 runs @ 40.66 ,8 Test tons .
Bad reputation of being a home track bully,
Couldn't play spin , in and out the side .
Was dropped for two full years ..

Since he came back in 2022 :

22 Tests , 2114 runs @ 62.18 , 7 Test hundreds in half the tests he had before he got dropped ! , made big scores in Asia , brilliant against England home and away ..To get this sort of output as a 36 year old I think it's incredible, edges Taylor for me.

It's because Taylor was such a good captain that he retained his place in the Test team. He really was an outstanding captain - great decision maker, great cricket brain and good manager of players. The best Australian captain I have seen and one of the best captains of all time, in my opinion

That 129 at Edgebaston in the 1997 Ashes series, made the world of difference. If we include that 129 - Taylor had 40 innings (which were the final 40 innings of his career) and scored a total of 1,719 runs at an average of 47.75. Here is the breakdown of his final 40 Test innings:

Not a good thing to highlight when you’re arguing for an Australian player.

What a beautiful morning to wake up to and see that we’ve beaten the number 1 test team in the world.

I’m lost for words. This win is so special. People wrote us off; our inexperienced team, but we came here to fight.

This team should give their praises for one person alone here, Shamar Joseph. He set the example of not backing down when your back is against the wall. A true fighter. This spread througout the team, the intensity was up…

Whatever we lacked in skill against the mighty Aussies we made it up with heart, passion, bloood, and tears (lots of). We are Windies cricket… and we are ****ing back, baby!
