Bumrah and Shami took 26 wickets between them at around an average of 22. SA’s pacers were better but they were also bowling at a hapless Indian batting unit. The former were also under the captaincy of KL Rahul who was downright torrid with his game management and tactics then.

Calling that effort a failure is an absolute joke as they had been winning games both home and away for years prior to it. At some point you can’t keep such intensity going and it is bound to take a toll when the batsmen din’t step up.

I should be more specific, failure to bowl out SA twice in a row, not collectively as an attack.
