If Grace is considered for selection it should be for the A team and as opener; otherwise, he should be respectfully avoided, in my opinion.

Well thats just weird. You’ve listed 3 slips for one team and 2 for the other. And you’ve also listed 5 bowlers for one team and four for the other. Does Kallis not get to bowl?

Kallis is the 5th bowler, simple over sight, and fixed

The slips one though was one that bothered me more than it should have.

But i'll just leave that there though.

I'm not sure three slips was as big a thing before 1970 anyway tbh.
Don't think so either well probably the 60's? 1st slip was also the most important prior to probably the 60's as well.

The greater emergence of fast bowlers, lively pitches and most importantly, more aggressive mindsets, probably pushed everything out a bit.

All probable conjecture.

Great effort... For the India one, I would take Raina over Axar for the batting as we have 6-7 bowling options already. Could even add Gill/Iyer soon.

Sachin, Viv, Mcgrath, Akram, Garner, Donald, Murali and Warne would get into every nation's all time Test XI, as well as all time ODI XI imo. Are there any others, and would you leave out any of these in any of the XIs?

I was thinking of Azharuddin as well. Thought Hardik-Dev-Axar from 6-8 to be pretty solid and hard hitting.

Garner doesn't makes Australia's Test XI for me, he actually doesn't makes WI's as well. All the others I agree with.

Garner over Holding, Lindwall?
Yeah I will prefer them. For WI, I rate Garner and Holding as pretty much equals, the presence of Ambrose and Holding's ability of flat tracks leads me towards him. Re Aus, I go with Miller, McGrath, Lindwall and the spin duo. Lindwall as he was a pretty handy bat and I have Miller at 6 so that will be useful; not to mention I don't rate him much behind Lillee (and Garner).

Yeah not sure about Garner in Australia.

I would put have him for his batting but Davo and Lindwall can hold the bat too.

Viv would also not make my Australian XI. Purely because I think Border would be better that far down at 6, same reason Ponting doesn’t make my Australian XI.
